I wonder if he will ever have to repay the thousands of dollars it takes to train a police dog.....any damage to police property by a citizen and it's a huge restitution fine.
I wonder if Bandit will be put into Memorial for fallen K9 colleagues part of the K9 dog trials website for teh dog trials he took part in.
He should be charged with negligence and animal cruelty at the very least.
AMEN!!!Quote:

RIP Bandit.
I pray that this officer NEVER has another K9.
He forgot ????
The bloody idiot !!!!!!!
Wom
As mad as I am, I have a few questions as I know the dogs mean the world to the officers.
How many hours had he been working?
I'll bet a buck that he was over worked & his brain was fizzled.
Its still not a good excuse, BUT that just means there are more people to blame for this.
This kind of thing happens when people are over worked to the extream.. They mess up & its usually really bad!!! I feel sorry for the dog & for the officer, IF thats the case.
Is there anyone we can write to and complain?? That's ridiculous.
I live here in Phoenix, and this has been all over the news.
Apparently the offficer was pulling another shift assignment, and the moment he walked into his house he was notifyed that his son was in a terrible car accident, so he & his wife jumped into her car and took off.
Accident??? Maybe, but if was a civilian that did this, he would most likely be in jail right now for animal abuse.
I can't give a reason as to why this person is not under arrest or in jail.
Just a thought, but WHY didn't the dog just follow him out of the car? I don't know too much about police dogs, but I just assumed that they follow their handlers around unless given a comand.
I'm just as baffled as the rest of you.
Poor Bandit :(
I can't talk for the police officer, obviously, but I know I have my dogs trained to NEVER leave the vehicle, even if they are left in it with doors wide open, until I tell them it is safe. This is because we travel a lot between Branson and St. Louis, a four hour drive, and sometimes have to make pit-stops along the way, gas stations, rest stops, whatever. Sometimes near busy intersections and I don't want them to just run out and risk getting ran over by a car. So they wait until I give them the "ok" command, and then they walk, not run, out of the car. Maybe he was trained the same way?Quote:

THat is too keep the dog inside the car should the cop have to exit car quickly- often dogs will key in on adrenaline or the excitement of the handler-
So, if an handler jumps out of the car the dog won't jump out into traffic or start a chase on their own.

K-9 units have a screen between the back seat and on the rear windows in some commmunities. THey usually have a huge k-9 sticker on the rear door and some kind of "Don't stick you hand inside" warning on there too.

This same thing happened in Indy too. This was several months ago. :(
They have invented an alarm for cars carrying dogs that sound off outside
the car when the temperature reaches dangerous heat level inside it. last
I heard they were looking to market it.
K-9 dogs are usually not trained to be passive. The dogs chosen for that 'job'Quote:

In the case of the handler who left his dog outside, later to be shot by a neighbor, He had an indoor cage for the dog when he took him home.
Why? If the dog was trained and 'safe' to be around his family?
These dogs are programmed to grab an arm and take that person down to the ground-and to top it off they only respond to commands from the handler-sometimes in German.
This was reported on MSNBC.
I just caught the guy's name..
Mike Moore (why are all guys named Mike Moore dumb?) Is a cop some where in the noirthwest part of the U.S.
He pulled over a car for a traffic violation, what violation is in dispute, He put down two in his report.
The car took off , Moore took up chase and pulled the car over again-then turned over the arrest to another officer.
The driver of the car was a Mrs. Moore, another police officer, husband of Mike and driving drunk.

They can't control their wives...they want to be dog handlers?
I couldn't have said it better, RICHARD.Quote:
Bet you 5.00 that this cop is slapped on the wrist and no charges are pursued. Just another "oopsie" and get the jerk a new dog.
