well depends....
hw bad is it?
Is it split.... or are the top layers of skin just peeled off?
If it is split pretty bad and pretty deep you might have to get the vet to glue it (stitches don't normally stay when they are in the pad)
Teddy used to have terrible problems with his feet. I would usually clean it out really well..... and then use an antiseptic. then I would put a glob of neosporin on it and I would usually wrap it up in some gauze for a day or two to keep the neosporin on. try to keep her off his feet as much as you can.... or at least keep her from running around on it too much until it starts to heal.
Can you take a picture of it?
I would say to take Dakota to the vet so he can look at it. Good luck
Soak it in epsom salt to clean it out and you can put a little antiseptic on it to keep it clean and dirt free. Don't let her move around on it too much for a few days until it heals. If it is deep you may want to go to the vet to get some antibiotics to avoid infection. (Ginger tore her pad up running on a tennis court.)
Its not too deep, she just ripped the top layers off. Unfortunately, I cannot take a photo, because I've already wrapped it in gauze with antiseptic. I've got her sleeping on the couch now, so shes doin good.Quote:

That's really the best thing you can do. Teddy often had that problem. Always ripping the top layers off the pad of his foot. I got sick of paying the vet to do what we could do at home LOL. there really isn't anything the vet can do and if you keep it clean an infection is unlikely in that kind of wound. but of course keep an eye on it and smell it every once in a while.... that sounds wierd but if it starts to smell like an infection take her to the vet.... but you should be fine with some neosporin... especially if you are keeping it wrapped for a bit.Quote:

Glad to hear she is doing better. You really do not need to keep it wrapped, buy you should bathe it in epsom salt a couple of times a day to keep it clean (soak a rag in epsom salt and wrap it around/hold it on the dog's foot for a few minutes). Tell her I said she is a very brave girl.
