I know that some people do not like snakes, and I know that some people love them. How about you?

I love snakes. PT made me love snakes, they are so gorgeous. I don't think it would be the right pet for me though. I am afraid I don't think the dogs would get along with a snakie.

Yep, I do.
I love WolfChan's Chubby; he's gorgeous. :D We have a few Boa Constrictors (I think...? :o) at school, and I love taking them out and playing with them.

i really like snakes, but i would never have one cause you have to feed them live animals.

my moms boyfriend used to have a snake when he lived with us about 7 years ago, her name was sammy and she was a pretty ball python. but he always fed her these live rats :(

When I was younger I loved snakes, we even had a black snake named elmo. I loved that guy.

Now that I'm older, I'm scared to death of them, it happened when I moved to Florida. I guess with so many "Bad snakes" here, I've developed a fear of them. After the other day my fear not getting any better, I opened the screen door and guess what fell on top of me?  I think people heard me scream a mile away.

But, I do have a Indgo (sp) that lives under my house and I'll be the first one to give any one H$%# if they ever hurt him. Just don't let him get to close to me and we are fine. :D

I like them..from a distance. LOL. I used to be terrified of them but since joining PT, I think I may be able to work up enough courage to one day get up closer and touch one. But right now, I'll stick to photos LOL.

I weaned my ball pythons onto frozen thawed - but every once in a while they get picky again and don't eat for over a month until I finally cave and give them live prey.

I'm SOOOOOOOO much afraid of snakes. Its not that I *dislike* them..........its just a fear factor. I don't think I could come close to a snake without getting a heart attack. :o

I must admit, some of them have gorgeous patterns, that I like to see in pictures. ;)

My husband has three snakes. This is going to sound horrible, and you all will hate me. But honestly, I don't care for snakes. I don't like feeding them cute little mice. I cringe when I hear the mice scream. Only one of my snakes will eat frozen. I also think they are boring. They don't run up to me excited when I come home from work like my dogs do.

I loved snakes when I was a kid. I was the president of the Reptile Education Club. lol. I had tons of snakes. But something changes. I don't know. I would just rather devote my love and attention to my dogs and cats.

I enjoy our snakes. They are more my husbands than mine. He feeds and cares for them. He had wanted a snake ever since he was a little boy... now we have 5 (maybe 6 soon). We have 2 red tail boas ("Beau" and "Angel"), 1 ball python ("One- Day"), 1 jungle carpet python ("Tarzan"), 1 snow corn snake("Flick"), and the one we may be getting soon is another ball python ("meatball").

Not a hard question for me to answer at all, because many of you know that I am deathly afraid of snakes. I don't even handle seeing them at the zoo very well! :o But you Pet Talkers have helped me because I can look at pictures and admire your snakes now, when I couldn't a few years ago. I'm glad there are people out there that do love and care for them. I just don't think I could ever have one as a pet. :)

I love and admire snakes greatly, though I don't think they would be the right pet for me because of care issues and I'd want to be sure and care for them the way they should be. I actually have a fascination for all reptiles, and my weakest spot is for land turtles/tortoises.

One thing I really miss in MN is fewer reptile species in the wild. In Missouri where I grew up, there were box turtles, all kinds of lizards, and so many varities of snakes. I loved going on hikes and running across them. Once I ran across a speckled king snake sunning on a rock. It was so very beautiful. Another time at the park I saw a huge black rat snake climbing up a tree. I reached out and lightly touched his/her back. I really love seeing them, though have a healthy respect for venomous varieties ;)

I once saw a very newly hatched copperhead baby at a nature park along the hiking trail. It was so beautiful.. the color on copperheads are pretty anyway, but on a newly hatched one, they were brilliant! He even still had his egg tooth. We did call the nature park rangers to come out and move him though because he was on a branch overhanging the trail and someone could have walked into him.

I love snakes! My friend had an albino cornsnake named Dmitri and it was really nice! It never bit or anything. I like the one's at the zoo, especially the big ones! But, I would never own one. I own rats, and I get so sad when I see people buying live feeder rats. If I could make sure that I had a snake that would only eat pre-killed and thawed, I would definitely get a small snake. Do many snakes eat those Snake Sausages well?

I really like snakes, but I don't really see myself owning one. When I worked at PetCo a long time ago I used to love playing with the snakes there. Right now my two kitties are enough to keep me busy, so if I ever did get a snake it wouldn't be for a very very long time.

I do like snakes. I used to have 2 garter snakes. But I got nightmares about the poor crickets I had to feed them. There is no way I could ever handle feeding a snake mice or rats. I'm way too sensitive and emotional about things like that.

My friend's snake wouldn't eat live animals. So, if that's all that's keeping you from having one, there are some that will only take frozen. Unless it's that they eat ANIMALS that's a problem for you....but, you specified live. Anyway....snakes are cool. My boyfriend has a ball python, but, I don't stay in the room when he eats. And, I won't look at the rat he feeds him, either. I have a pet rat, and, I can't do it. :)

Aaah, but the argument that snakes have to eat *animals* is invalid to people who have dogs and cats...because don't dogs and cats eat animals? Rats are onmivores too. Most of the animals we keep as pets eat other animals. I think it's kind of sad that people freak out just because it's still SHAPED like an animal when the other animal eats it. :)

Generally, people don't feed their cat/dogs live animals though.

I was replying to this, Kay. Frozen foods versus ground up animals in kibble form. :)
