Calling on all Crazy Cat People ~ A beautiful calico girl by the name of Blessing needs our help.
IMOM (http://www.imom.org) is trying to help her daddy. A mean, spiteful neighbor slammed Blessing's tail in the door and now it needs to be amputated. Blessing's daddy is a disabled Vet and needs some help.
Look at this face! http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k272/orioncody/Blessing%20Evans/Blessing_Evans.jpg
The injury is pretty graphic so I'll just post the link. Definitely not for sensitive eyes. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k272/orioncody/Blessing%20Evans/Blessing_injury.jpg
Please help her daddy get his little girl's tail fixed. You can follow her progress at the following link. I'm not sure, but you may have to create a userid and password to get to it.

 What kind of spiteful evil horrible b****** would do that kind of thing to a cat!!!!
They should have their arm smashed in a door and see how they like it.
God this kind of thing makes me so livid.
I am praying they will get enough money for the poor cat to get it's tail fixed soon.

Poor baby! I am going to check my bankbook...The fund updates are posted in the Recent fund updates for our "Pets in Need" (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showforum=12) forum. The volunteers will post updates periodically (not every day because they all have "regular" jobs during the day). As of last night, Blessing had $206 of the over $800 she needs. The vet is giving a 10% discount. YAY!
Thank you to all who have donated or are considering it. Please keep IMOM in mind if you have a pet emergency of your own. They will not be able to help you with existing vet bills and they don't pay for the treatment AFTER the fact. But, they will help raise funds for future treatment as long as the vet will work with them and give them an estimate.

We are praying for Blessing to have her operation, and for that injury not to impact her life.
And for the person who did this to a helpless animal to die.

I agree with everything you said CultureJunky.
I was able to donate a little bit, I hope it helps. God Bless this beautiful cat.

Can you keep us updated on how Blessing does??Of course I will. But, you can also follow her progress on the IMOM Board. This link should take you there. Blessing Evans (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showtopic=1945) Chris (her Daddy) is working hard to raise funds. He has already found a vet willing to give him a 10% discount on the surgery.

I thought there used to be a page where you could see all the money that had been raised. I see there is $206 for Blessings, but they don't count other donations in that.
Is there another place to see the total so far?
What a pretty kitty!

What a pretty kitty! No, there is not another place. Barb (the treasurer) posts updates every few days in the thread I linked above. She keeps a running total as the checks/paypal/credit card transactions clear but doesn't post every day. IMOM is an all volunteer organization. No one gets paid. So, Barb will post when she has time.
Barb did post this morning in Blessing's thread that she now has $281. Please get the word out and cross post on other message boards. Thank you.

Karma is a funny thing, isn't it? Blessing's daddy just posted an update on IMOM that the woman who did this to her has passed away.

I registered so I can read about Blessing. I also had a small amount in my paypal account ($19) that I gladly sent to help her get this much needed operation.

Barb (IMOM treasurer) has posted an update in Blessing's thread. I have copied and pasted it below for those who may not be able to access their board. Evidently, a member has issued a challenge. He/She will send in a matching donation of up to $250 for the funds raised TODAY (Sunday). So, if you've been thinking about donating, today is the day to do it:
BarbaraIMOM Today, 04:23 AM Post #27
Here's where we are this morning:
381.00 Donations for Blessing
89.00 Donations for Blessing that qualify for match
89.00 Match so far
559.00 Total available to date (IMOM is trying to raise $720 per vet estimate minus 10% discount he's giving Blessing)
Folks, we still have a ways to go, but we're getting very close. The next $161 dollars donated today will be matched, so let's go! It's a pretty cool deal to have your donation for Blessing doubled :-) And Blessing needs to get to the vet ASAP!

THANK YOU ALL! For those of you who haven't visited Blessing's thread on IMOM, here's an update from Barb (IMOM Treasurer) last night:
BarbaraIMOM Yesterday, 08:56 PM Post #50
Challenge met!!!! Blessing has $625, with another $250 coming from our angel donor, which is enough to meet the low end. I'll let Tracy know so she can do her thing now.
Thanks everyone for participating!
Barb/IMOM
(Tracy is the IMOM volunteer handling this case. She will be contacting the Vet today to let them know we have raised the funds so that surgery can proceed ASAP). Thank you all for your donations. Please remember IMOM if you are ever faced with expensive vet procedures. Remember, they will help you raise funds BEFORE treatment -- not after.

All funds have been raised for Blessing. Her Daddy is working with the vet to get a surgery date. Right now it looks like October 12th. But, that is too long to wait, so IMOM is doing everything they can to make it happen sooner.

I hope it can happen sooner...but I'd rather see it done correctly than hurried and squeezed into a tight time spot!
I was just reading the thread in IMOM. Boy, that is one happy cat-dad!

I just wanted to let you know that Blessing had her surgery on Thursday and is home and doing fine. Her entire tail did not have to be amputated after all. She still has a little left. No updated pictures yet, but you can follow her progress HERE (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showtopic=1945)
Thank you to all who donated. Please keep IMOM in mind if you are facing an expensive procedure with your baby. Read their guidelines very carefully to make sure you qualify.

I saw the pics! She still has MOST of her tail! And when the fur grows back, it will be hard to notice, I am sure.
Her 'dad' was sure over the moon - never mind, Mars! He kept saying he had to take a nap, and kept remembering people to thank and kept reposting - it was hilarious in the most delightful way!!!!
Happy Endings (no pun intended, as one poster on IMOM said). :D

OMG! I just now read this thread. How awful people are to cats. That poor cat and Poor daddy to have to be so distraught over his furbaby's "accident".
I hope something is "DONE" to the neighbor who did this.

Just for your information, this neighbor has died. (It is in Blessing's thread on IMOM)

Yes, and the late neighbour's car was rigged and blown up - allegedly by her nephew.
Did he need more insurance money? Sheesh.

OMG! I wish I never ever wrote that.Human life is precious and now that I read that this was an elderly person,I'm sure it was an accident(her hurting the cat).I know she wouldn't of done it on purpose.
I know that I get very upset when their is animal abuse but I don't think she meant to slam the door on the poor cat's tail.
I appologize to everyone for my harshness.

I will be praying for Blessing. Also for the neighbors family. Such a tragedy, that something like that had to happen.
Hopefully Blessing will be fine now, thanks to all of you that donated money to help fix Blessing's tail.

I just read the posts about Blessing. I so wish I had read them sooner; I would have definitely donated to her surgery.
I am SO happy to read she is doing well and most of tail is still in tact. Is there a quick way to be notified, if you're a member of PT, when a donation like this is needed?

I am SO happy to read she is doing well and most of tail is still in tact. Is there a quick way to be notified, if you're a member of PT, when a donation like this is needed?I'm so glad to hear you are interested. Blessing was helped through an organization called IMOM (http://www.imom.org)
The best way to get information on their cases would be to join their community message board. Go to http://imom.org/community/ and have a look around. You can create yourself a userid and password there. The cases are grouped into types:
Emergencies are HERE (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showforum=3)
General Cases (like Blessing's) are HERE (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showforum=2)
There are also boards for DIABETIC pets (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showforum=4) ,
Renal Failure (http://64.176.8.124/community/index.php?showforum=5) as well as several others.
I check the boards every few days to see what's new. But, you could set up a monthly donation to the board of your choice and let IMOM distribute the funds. That information is HERE (http://www.imom.org/donation/monthly.htm)
If you're specifically interested in emergencies, they will alert you via e-mail of pets in need. See THIS (http://www.imom.org/pin/notify.htm) for specific instructions.
I am not a volunteer for IMOM, but I have been very impressed with all the volunteers who give so much of their time to help the pets in need. Thank you for your interest. Please remember IMOM if your babies ever need some help. IMOM will help raise funds BEFORE treatment. They don't help with existing vet bills.
