Easter and Spring is a time of renewal, and Sky and Stormy are starting anew, with a family.
I call her Sky because she is blue with white, like clouds. Her boyfriend is Stormy. He has a lot of grey, like storm clouds.
I spent quite a bit of time at Petco watching all of the many parakeets in the cage, trying to find out who got along well with each other. I picked these two, and boy was I right.
At the time they were too young to tell for sure what gender they were, but as luck would have it, they are female and male. Sky and Stormy liven up the place with their happy chirping.
After almost two and a half years, this spring they decided to start a family. Every day Sky would lay another egg until there were eight.
She has been staying in her nesting box most of the time. Stormy is such a sweetheart. He just hung around outside, playing with the toys until she would come out for a little bit. He was so happy to see her. I placed a mirror in the cage so he could look at himself and have some company.
Sky and Stormy had better enjoy the peace and quiet now, because in a week or so, they will be busy with a bunch of babies.
