I got Flury earlier this year because I just love Cochins! Cochins are a breed of chicken that is very, very fluffy, and typically quite docile and loving in personality. Flury is a bit different than most of the Cochins I've had, though. She's definitely big and fluffy, but Flury is very serious and demands to be taken seriously! It's unfortunate for her that it's hard to take a big, fluffy, white hen so seriously, which is most likely why she's always got a scowl on her face. Flury also has the softest feathers and she's so squishable and snuggly. But Flury hates to have her feathers messed up by a snuggle! She's always shooting me dirty looks because she knows I'm going to snuggle her or call her my Floofy-Poofy-Snuggie-Buggie-Floofles, and that's damaging to her reputation as a very serious chicken. There's just something about that scowl, though, that makes me want to snuggle her all the more ...
Flury may seem like she's not all that sweet of a pet, but truly she is. She doesn't like to be held, but if she's up on top of the hutches where she's about chest-height on me, she doesn't mind, as long as none of her friends are looking, if I hug on her and stroke her soft, fluffy feathers and let her rest her little chin on my shoulder. And secretly, I think she likes to be my Flury-Floofy-Poofy-Snuggie-Buggie-Floofles. But don't tell anyone I said that.
Flury is not named after the type of snowfall, but a griffin in one of my favorite books, hence the spelling of her name. I think with her attitude, she's easily as fierce as a griffin!
