I
received word that there was a 1.5-month-old ferret jill that needed a
home- if she wasn't re-homed she would be killed due to not "having interest
in hunting." To be honest I had no idea what I was doing when I went and took her home ...
I discovered that she had been being fed cat food (both wet and dry) which
can lead to serious liver and kidney problems. Slowly, ever so slowly, I
helped this barely 85g (3 ounces) ferret kit get up to a healthy growing weight. She is
now fully eating raw meats as all ferrets are meant to and weighs a nice
plump (roughly) 550g (1.2 pounds) which is rather heavy for a small female ferret.
I managed to get this smelly fuzz butt back to health and she's now
frequently going to fundays and ferret awareness so people fully understand
how to care for ferrets. She loves the attention! Being a solo ferret, she
doesn't regularly see other ferrets, however she has no issue being caged or
placed in a playpen with them when we go to gatherings!
