This
pretty girl's name is Rose. I went to the same pet store that I got my
other hamster Little Bear from and I found out that they had a female Syrian
Hamster for sale. I called my mom to ask if I could take her home with me.
The next day I went back to the pet store to pick her up. When I got home
with her, we introduced her to Little Bear and I have to say it was love at
first sight for both of them. Little Bear went from being this lazy hamster
that loved sleeping all the time, to beeing insanly in love with Rose and he
would not stop trying to get to her before we let him see her. For the whole
first night I and my mom didn't get any rest, because they both were talking
back and forth between their cages and making sounds. We then let them be
together, as we were hoping they would have hamster babies.
At the first try, we think she had a false pregnantcy beacuse she were
showing all the sign of beeing pregnant but by the 16th day, the usual term
for a hamster gestation, nothing happend. We let Rose rest for a week before
we let them get together again.
On the 31st of July, eight beautiful hamster babies were born. The first two
weeks we struggled with them, as there were so many and four of the babies
didn't survive. But after that, the four remaining babiess have grown really
well, and are now five weeks old. Rose has been a really good mom to them and
given them all the love and care she can. We were initially thinking we were
going to give away a few of the pups, but since we lost half of the pack we
decided that we are going to keep the rest. There are three girls and one boy
that survived, and are now already at least half the size of what Rose is!
Rose and the babies mean so much to everyone in the family here, and they are
really playful and look so cute!
Rose's favourite treat is carrot-flavored treats and sunflower seeds. At
night when she's a bit tired of being around her kids, she always tries to
climb out of her home so we hear her. We then take her out, and she love to
round around on the floor in her exercise ball we got her. She can run for
many hours, it seems, before she finaly want to go back to her children to
clean and nurse them. She is a good mom, and it is great to see her and her
babies thriving! We all love Rose!
