Zei and her sister, Skif, were our firsts Sugar Gliders. We hadn't even
seen a Glider live before we found the girls and we were in love from day
one. Zei Zei's sister has always been a sweet heart, but this girl right here
was a real tyrant from the day we got her. She was crazy aggressive, and some
days it felt like she hated us.
One morning it all changed. I don't know what it was, or what happened, but
when we went to say good morning to our little girls, she was the first one
up and running to see us. No angry upset noises, no bitting, she went
straight for our hands and spent an hour grooming our fingers. It was crazy
and adorable! She's been a bundle of joy ever since, though she's still a
handful - mischievous and a rotten little prankster, but how could you not
just fall in love with that face? Zei Zei's a princess, for sure. Dainty and
sweet all at the same time. She also has a routine that God Forbid you
interrupt! We think she's precious!
Sugar gliders in general are complicated pets. They have a diet of
mostly vegetables, pellet food and a lot of extra little things. Care
wise, they can smell really bad if you don't clean their cage daily, but that
is simple to do. They are colony animals - it's not recommended to have just
one because they get lonely. Gliders are smart little animals and you should
change up their cage at least weekly so they don't get bored. Their cage (at
least ours) is half the length of our dinning room wall!
Over all, not a beginner pet but still cute :) They live about fifteen years, too!
So we look forward to many, many years more with Zei Zei and her mischievous ways!
