Slowly but surely - a breakthrough!

Well, as you all know Major is a mostly outside dog. Many people on here disagree with that. There are a lot of times when "outside dog" is linked to "abused dog". In my case that's not true though. Perhaps he is not as happy as indoor dogs, I don't know. He is a happy dog though. He gets his daily walks, is able to go on off leash walks in a field near my house, and gets to go to the farm for a few hour regularly. He's neutered, has all his up-to-date shots, gets treats and toys, the same as any other well cared for dog. The only difference to most here on PT is he sleeps outside. Yes we all know we have cold Saskatchewan winters. Major has an insulated dog house with a lightbulb for warmth. I know a lot of people said he wouldn't last one winter, but he's in the middle of his second and doing great.

Anyway, I'm just trying to get my point across that I am a 14 year old doing my best to take care of him, despite my parents (mom) not allowing him inside much. I do my best. Last winter I convinced them to allow him in the kitchen whenever I want him in there, as long as I'm watching him. Now my dad lets him in the kitchen in the mornings when he wakes up early. My mom had him in for two hours while I was at school a couple days ago. Alot of people - I don't even remember who - thought if he wasn't allowed in as a puppy, my parents would never allow him in.

Tonight, the first time ever, he is allowed to sit by me here while I'm on the computer. (Supposed to be doing a computer-related job that takes hours). Anyway, he probably won't be allowed here too much at first, but maybe someday.

I also wanted to say - I'm not 'mad' at anyone who "doesn't care for me" because of Major being an outside dog. I know its just your concern for Major. I just wanted to say that I'm still fighting for him. Thanks for reading!

That's really good news! I don't see how people could be mad at you for this if you're obviously doing everything you can to keep him happy.

I always knew you loved Major & have good parents who just happened
to believe the way they do about dogs coming inside. Don't listen to anyone
who tries to make you feel bad about Major. You have done a wonderful
job of raising a great dog. I am very happy that Major is proving himself
to be a good dog & a pleasure to have around.Good job by both you and
    Major.

That is such great news and a big step for your parents to change
their minds. Not everybody has the same opinion
when it comes to allowing dogs inside their home.

I am happy for you and Major.

I'm much happier to see a well cared for sometimes inside most of the time outside dog than I am to see a dog who's inside all the time and ignored or abused. Major looks like a happy pup in the pics, beyond that does it really matter?

I think you are doing a great job with Major. In all the pictures I've seen he looks like such a happy dog! He isn't abused or tied up on a chain all day. I can tell that you give him as much of your time and attention as you possibly can. It always makes me happy to see new pictures of that handsome face

Thanks for the great signature Kay!
