    :( No!!!

This probably doesn't mean much to most of you at all, but basically my favorite band is splitting up.
    I'm in tears right now.
I've never been able to see them live.

    Taken from their website:
    "Say goodnight, but mean goodbye"
Ladies and gentlemen, the rumors are true. After ten years, close to a hundred recorded songs and several trips around the world, The Get Up Kids
will be playing their last shows this summer. We're celebrating the release of our as-of-yet-untitled live record and we're coming around one final time. We'll be playing gigs in the west, in the east and in the middle of the US. Our very last show will be in Kansas City, MO (our hometown) Fourth of July weekend 2005.

As a group we'd like to thank each and everyone of you for supporting us over the years. Whether we slept on your floor in '97 or you drove
all the way to Lawrence to see us play in '05, we are forever grateful. We feel it's best to let the last ten years speak as a document for what the
    band was. We can look back and say that we are proud of everything that we accomplished. In the end, we will always remember this as a good time;
we hope that you remember it that way too.

    See you this summer,
    The Get Up Kids

Kay, I know HOW you feel! Trust me! That's how I felt when Garth Brooks went in retirement in 2001, I never got to see him, either..
You're the one sure thing I've found so you better stick around...

The Get Up Kids were one of the very first bands I listened to and I've been listening to them for YEARS!!! Literally since they've been together and I was back in highschool, which was a long time ago! I've seen them play so many times, and the last time they toured Oregon, which was in 2000, I saw them play here in Eugene at the WOW Hall and they blew me away. I mean, I was a teenager. I have SOOOOO many memories of this band it's ridiculous. One really touches me though, as it was playing when I drove away from my best friend when moving from California here to Oregon and still makes me cry each time I hear it.

This is really horrible. I think I'm gonna puke.

    That's too bad...

I've never heard of them though... them, or 'hellogoodbye'. Guess that means I'm officially old and out of the loop...

How sad. I know I'd be very upset if my favorite band broke up. I have heard of them but I'm unsure if I have heard any of their songs. It won't let me play the song at myspace either for some reason.

Thanks for the links. I listened to both of the songs you mentioned - not bad! I liked "I'll Catch You" a lot. "Dear Jamie" was weird 'cause I don't think I've ever heard my name in a song before!

I feel young and hip again!!
