    (Our Weekend+New Trick- 24/105pics*2vids)

Hey guyz -- this is Kiara.
Mum and I had a very fun-filled buisy weekend!
On Saturday, we went to Valerie (dukedogsmom) and Duke's house. Big bro Simba came too.
Mum and Valerie had lotz of fun together, and they even took me to see a *BIG* thing called "Flair" on Sunday!
I was rather scared but it was okay.
Then, Valerie took mom, big bro, and me back home -- where shortly after Honey and Lauren (BluStang24) visited!
After everyone left, mum, grandmom, and I went to pick up mum's friend and her lil sis. We came back to our neighborhood and did somethin called "Trick or Treating"
I swearz -- so many people came up to me and said "It's a dog... in a costume!" or "Aren't you toooo cute!" as if I didn't already know. Pfft. OH.. and I got LOTS of treats. One lady even gave me a whole brand new bag of snausage treats!!

Today, after school, mum and I worked on a new trick and I PURRFECTED it!
She taught me how to go around a cone, or object on command. The pictures and video she got aren't too great but she said that she'd get more soon!

Anyways, here are the pictures of our weekend! A lot of them are of me!

    My perty big sister!

Nala joining my mum's friends on the couch. Mum and I went trick or treating with them.

This is me doing my new trick I learned tonight. Mum taught it to me rreeeally fast and she said I'm such a good girl!
I have since moved on to going around more things, like the vacuum cleaner.

*high five* for a good job!

    *Too cute*

Mum says I have cute markings on my tummy.. Some of them remind her of a Shepherd. A lady at the dog park a while back said that as well.

    That's all! *waves bye*

Sorry for posting so many. It's just that there was so many days cramed into one post!
There are more pictures in the album:

She's such a smarty pants! That's because she's been around her mom so long. Loved all the pics. I miss my snuggle bunny. You should have left him here! I had an adventure today. I'm going to put some pics in the general section. How do you like the sig I made from your pics? I'm going to work on a fancier one. I was playing around with photoshop today and learned a bit.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Those pics of Flair are absolutely gorgeous. I think my favorite is Simba being a snuggle bunny though, that is darling Kiara is as cute and pretty as always.

First off, where did you get that gorgeous white striped cone? Second, great pics! LOL @ Kiara in the "Simba" costume!

The markings on Kiara's belly look just like the markings Pookie (black and tan coonhound, belongs to former co-worker) has. I've seen pics of her as a pup and she was mostly black, but as she aged (I think she's around 8 now?) she got those markings all over. I've attached a pic but it's hard to tell (she's the one on the right).

My dog can do that trick too. Here are the instructions for how I taught it.

Uses : Great for teaching a flyball Swimmers Turn/ Also to teach your dog to go around a piece of agility equipment

Equipment Needed : Motivating Dog Toy and or food, obstacle

Step 1. Take out your obstacle, (I used a cone) preferably something of a good size, could even be a bucket, small bin, cardboard box, (but not a can, too small). Place the obstacle out in the open. Dog is off lead.

Step 2. If you are going to teach the dog to go around clockwise, stand facing the object, put out your left hand extended from your body and using the lure, get the dog to follow it around the cone.

Step 3. Once the dog is doing this, start to fade the lure. I have found that I lured my dog with the toy, as he came around the cone I faced the opposite direction to him and threw the toy. You can use food for a non toy motivated dog.

Step 4. Keep giving the hand signal, add your cue word "around" and then throw the toy once the dog has come around the cone. Start working further and further away from the cone. Once the dog can do it from six feet away go to the next step.

Step 5. If you want tight corners, you can start adding the object into the corner. So the dog has to do a tight turn and builds muscle memory.

This took me about 1 week to teach my dog, with one 5 minute session a day.

    ADVANCED

I then took my dog inside, and put him in the rumpus room and held him and looked at the clothes horse and said "Around" and he went around. So you can start trying it out with other objects as well and greater distances.

    I found this trick at
http://www.k9station.com/turns2.htm and found it has more uses than just teaching a swimmers turn.

I also taught my dogs high five. Your high five photo is very cute.

    Thanks everyone.

Wow.. it took you a week to train it??
It only took Kiara about 10 minutes. She has since done it around a cone, vacuum, deoderant bottle thing, stuffed animal, Simba (dog), Simba (stuffed animal), a chair, my mom, my shoes... and some other things but I forget.

I trained her with a tennis ball. I'd move it around the cone, as she followed, saying around as she did it, then threw the ball once she did it. She LOVES tennis balls and loves to play fetch so this worked perfectly.

All I have to do now is point at the object and say around. She's such an awesome little pup
