Total Flop At Taking Digi Pics

I got a new Canon Power Shot A310 recently and the pics
I've been able to take & post to a photo site are terrible. I must
not be doing something right. This is supposed to be a camera
for beginners. It seems to take so long between
when I press the button until the camera actually shoots.

Anyway, sorry I've not posted more about Maggie. She is a pure
delight to have around. She's a riot. I'm going to break down
& get a disposible camera to take some quick shots of Maggie
and Smokey playing. Any helpful hints about digi cameras would
    be greatly appreciated.

When you have a "beginner" digi, they do tend to respond a lot slower than most cameras. That is one thing that I am having a hard time getting used to while transitioning from my SLR to digi. I even bought a high-end digi with 12 megapixels (supposed to be one of the best), but the reaction time between shutter and exposure is still a little slow. It is something that you have to get used to. And it does make it difficult to get that perfect shot. The good news it, you can delete the ones you don't like...no money lost. As far as a blurry photo...there should be an auto setting on the camera that will auto-focus. Usually by pressing the release button down half-way, it will beep, telling you it is focused and ready for the picture...then just finish pressing it down. I hope that helps you out a bit. It is tough to switch from film to digi, but once you make the transition, you'll never go back! Good luck, and I can't wait to see Maggie and Smokey!!!!

    shutterbug0303,

Thanks for the encouragement.I really need it here. I'll keep
trying & yes the erase feature on digi is a good one. Believe
me, all help is welcome . The book that came with it has not been much help to me.

Liz, I have been using a Canon A300 and I have the exact same issues. The other thing I have a lot of trouble with is the lighting in certain rooms in my house. They come out so dark! It definitely does much better outdoors or in a bright room.

I wish you luck. We want to see some pictures.
