What kind of people do we have in one of the most affluent countries in the world that someone who no longer wants their Cat will simply leave their Cat Companion on the street to fend for herself rather than making sure that at least she has a chance at a new home.

I can't understand how your first umm, "family," one who supposedly cared about you enough to get you chipped, could ever abandon a kitty as special as you. Well, thank goodness you were found and brought to safety, and as the saying goes, "their" loss is your FOREVER family's great gain, and we're so happy that you are finally in the loving care of committed and caring humans, living the life you so rightly deserve!
