    Dogs from the past

My mom scanned in some old pictures of dogs the at now at RB. Thought I'd share a few...

Pierre was a poodle my mom had in Junior High. This is him with my Aunt:

Toby was a dog my mom adopted after High School. He was a poodle/terrier mix and the son of my great-grandmother's dog:

    and with my Grandma:

This is Sooty. He was my aunt's dog and a GSD mix and one of the first dogs I remember. Course he was alot older by my memories:
Here he is with my Dad:

    And as a puppy:

Thanks for sharing your family memories! Sooty looks like a real scamp. All these pups deserve to be honored because of their part in your family!

And then there is Mickey and Simon.

Mickey was my parent's first dog. He was a weimie/beagle mix they got in New Jersey

After they moved to Arizona, Simon joined the family. He was a terrier mix

    They got along great!

I have vague memories of the two...although I'm not sure how well they liked me!

    There are more pics here

    Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
I wish my family was more dog oriented. I think I only remember 3 dogs in my entire extended family.

Neat pictures! Thanks for sharing them. I wish I had a scanner. Wow, the carpet, couch and coffee table really bring back memories of how our house looked when I was a kid, too!

Here's Mom with her Dobie, Roxie. I have asked her to scan a few others she had.

My grandparents have always had GSDs and they have great pictures of them, I will have to ask Papa to scan some too.

It's great to see pictures with pets from the past. Andrew always says a picture with a dog is better than one without and a place that allows dogs is much better than the ones that don't!

I don't even know Isn't that horrible!! They were both from Ohio ( Fremont and Tiffin) and my dad was stationed in NJ with the military when they got married. Shortly after, he was moved to Ft. Hauchucha, AZ and then when he was discharged they moved back to Ohio, first to BG and to Findlay in 1980, where they have been ever since.

Hmmm. if your dad was stationed in NJ..I'll bet it was Ft Dix I LOVED all those old photos.. super! When I was about 6, I remember our neighbor gave us one of her terrier's puppies, more or lesss shoved it at my parents as a "gift" and by the grace of God, we kept it...Yay! I don't remember much, I guess my folkd took care of it, but one day "Happy" (seee? I remember THAT!) ran out, we heard a yelp and he hobbled back. A broken leg resulted in hisbeing put to sleep as it never healed. In this day and age, I know that would never happen, but they knew so little then. I never played with dolls, only stuffed dogs and I also remember spazing out hysterically when they told me about Happy. Only one other time did I get "this close" to another dog. I was about 10 and a little pooch followed me home (yeah, right the folks said, but it was true)It was starved, filthy, flea/tick ridden but seeet and adorable and friendly. I broke my china piggy bank to get coins to buy food. We had a pretty active lifestyle back then, so my folks said "no way", esp; after Happy and honestly, I guess the stray just ran away again. I never did get the dog food (fed it bread I gues) but got bloody hell for breaking the bank. Funny, my parents still remember this story. I swore from that day on, that I would someday get a dog, as a responsible adult and nobody could ever say a word. So at age 41, I got Cody (Hi folks, we're getting a dog) and 11 years later, I still say it's the wisest, best thing I ever did. Odd, though, my mom was raised with cats and dogs. She is so highly allergic, it's pathetic, but loves Cody so much, puts up with it. Luckily I have a boyfriend who KNOWS he comes 2nd to Cody. hee, hee
