    Sugar (but not so sweet)

I am sure Sugar misses her original parents, but I am also sure she loves you too. I have a 16 year old boy myself, and I am trying to brace myself for the day he is gone too; it's just a heartbreaking thought. So try to do the very best you can with Sugar as I am doing, and know that you are giving her all the love you could possibly give as substitute parents. She is beautiful; you have done a great job with her.

That is so sad that Sugar has lost her Original Purrents, and so good that she was able to find someone who could take thier place as well as you have,
I pray that if anything takes me away from My Found Cats, that they will learn to be as happy at the Pampered Feline Shelter.

Sugar certainly is a Colorful Cat and does not look anywhere near 16 years of age.
We are praying that you and Sugar have more happy yeras together, and that your love just grows and grows.

    Sweet Sugar

Hi from Montreal! Thanks for sharing Sugar's story. I am sure she misses her first family but bless you for taking her in - I work in rescue and so often people either dump the cats at a shelter or have them killed after the passing of a family member. Sugar is a smart cat by not eating dry food - it actually is known (although people prefer to ignore this) to cause obesity, renal failure, etc. when given as a main meal. Sadly many people prefer the convenience of that (and clumping litter) but it has horrible consequences on our furry friends. Think of it this way - would you want to eat nuts daily with next to no water - your organs would suffer and you would be huge.

Many plants are poisonous so you may want to do a google search to find out about yours.

My cat Beyli used to lick plastic bags too (even more when he was in renal failure (CRF). I found out that the bags have an oil on them so that they don't stick together and Beyli was in need of that oil to soothe his stomach from the acid forming. I started giving him famotidine (like Pepcid) and it helped him a lot (vet recommended). It would be good, if you haven't done so, to have a bloodtest done asap to see why she isn't well - this is considered a roller coaster of an illness, but treatable (with Famotidine, Fortekor for blood pressure (or Benazepril) and sometimes Sub Q's. So many illnesses are treatable once we know what to do - vets often don't advise us of the options for some reason...

I am honored with my cat Caramel's hugs every time I get home - heaven!

    Take care.
Please have your pets sterilized as soon as possible to lower, and one day hopefully eliminate, unwanted and abandoned pets. It IS our responsibility. Adopting from a shelter also helps - encouraging breeders just adds to the overpopulation.

    Psst, psst...Muniiiing!!!

Magandang umaga, senyorita! You're a fine-lookin' gal for sixteen! I'm also glad that you were taken in by your new mom and dad after your first mommy passed on. When I read how you reacted when you thought your original mom was the one tapping on the window, I felt for you and your new mom--you both must miss your first mama so much!

I wish you health and happiness in the years to come; I know your folks appreciate you very much not only for your diva presence, but also because through you, the memory of your first mom is still very much alive.

    Sugar!

Hi Sugar...nice to see your colorful face today!
You sort of remind me of my Gypsy, who was 16 years old when she passed away...she was a tortie though, not a calico like you...
I hope that everyday is COTD for you, Sugar!
(Note to Sugar's humans: please be careful with the houseplants, as many are toxic...particularly any type of lily. And - at her age, Sugar may be losing weight due to hyperthyroidism, so she should be checked out for it. My Gypsy had it, and live healthily for 5 years with meds after she was diagnosed).

Sugar is a lovely cat. She looks so serious. Perhaps she still misses her original parents, but I am sure that she appreciates the love that she receives every day. She is very lucky to have a human Mom and Dad who care so much for her.

    Sugar, Sugar!

    Sugar,
You are beautiful and special. We used to have a kitty who also loved plastic bags.

Big hugs and kisses to you Sugar!
Best Regards, J.B. and Olive the Dog!

  15. Dear Sugar,

I think you are very sweet. Not everyone (nor every cat!) expresses love in the same way. What a struggle you must have! You loved your first purrents very much...you sense your new purrents are somehow an extention of your lost beloveds...plus you love them but do not want to feel "disloyal" by being too demonstrative toward your new purrents.

Such challenges for a beauty queen like you!

But you are loved and love in return - in your own unique way...

And if you want to nibble plants and lick plastic bags - or not...after 16 wonderful years - do WHATEVER you want to do!

    With blessings...

    Edwina
