    Steps...

So we have this challenge between our 2 towers at work. I am in the West Tower and we are in the lead even though we have less people. We were all given a pedometer 29 days ago and our goal is 10,000 steps per day. I am only 5 feet tall so I take alot of steps. So far I have logged: 299,407 steps, 239.5 km, averaging 8.2 km/day or 10,324 steps per day. I'm not really doing a bunch of walking that is out of the ordinary either. I counted 100 steps one day, just to see how far I got, I can say that I sure as heck didn't get very far. The competition is set for 60 days, each person's goal is 600,000 steps. It's kind of fun and darn right amazing how many steps you actually take in 1 day.

Just wanted to share something fun!

What a great idea!!! The competition between your towers sounds like a lot of fun and everyone gets some exercise in the process. The best of luck to your crew! Does the winner get anything besides bragging rights? Please keep us updated?

Sounds fun! I am not particularly short-legged, but Paul is so long-legged I probably take 3 steps to his two, so I'd get to the goal faster that way - counting steps!

As we pass preset milestones we are given our "gift".

The end prize is one VP from either tower has to dress as Richard Simmons and give the entire company a demo!

Thought I'd update this a bit. After 46 days I was past 500,000 steps. I should hit 600,000 steps next week, inside the 60 day time frame. I'm averaging over 12,000 steps a day.

    That's a great idea.

Well done, Gayle.. and everyone participating!

Just did my update after the weekend.

The West Tower is currently in the lead by a mere 55 steps!!

After 49 days I personally have done:
    543,141 steps
    434.5 kms
    Averaging 11084 steps/day
    Averaging 8.8 km/day

This challenge ends November 12th. I'm not sure how to go back to life without using my pedometer every day! This has been alot of fun and a real learning experience.
