I fear that my senior Boo is on his decline; *Update; he's gone; #163; 11/1

It's been 7 months since his love Pigeon made her trip to the Bridge but he still calls for her every day and night. He goes all through the house, still hoping to find her and at night, his calls echo eerily, causing me to cry and go to him to comfort him but he won't have it. He turns away from me, sometimes even runs. He's eating and drinking and using the litter box w/no problems. He's just plain heartsick. He's nearly 19 now and the sadness in his eyes is just too much sometimes. Please spare a prayer for my blackie Boo Bear.

Oh Mary, this is just so sad and so heartwrenching to see. Lots of prayers coming from me.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

awe.... sweet Boo Bear, do not cry for Pidge, she is waiting for you at the rainbow bridge, but you need to live your life out here first. Please give it some more time before you decide to go!

Prayers for sweet Boo. Perhaps Pawsitive Thinking or Nancy Efrusy could have a chat with him?

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear this. He and Pidge must've really had a very strong bond. I hope he'll be able to calm down soon. Do you think that maybe she's been visiting him? Please take care. (((HUGS)))

Poor old Boo. Mary, it must be so sad for you to see him like this, and not to be able to do anything for him.

Come on Boo - try to be just a little happy, and make Mom happy. You'll be with Pidge again one day, but it's just not time yet.

Thanx, everyone. He really does seem to be doing better. He's so bone thin; he can't weigh more than 6 lbs. I can see all of his bones and his eyes are rather cloudy, maybe the beginning of cataracts. But he eats well, drinks, too and uses the litter box w/no problem so I guess I should be grateful. I am grateful but it just makes my heart sore to see and hear him cry like that. He hasn't done it in a few nights, though, so maybe the worst is over. Anyhow, I thought you'd like an update.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    Hey Mary,

Have you tried mixing some KMR liquid with canned kitten food? That'll put meat on his bones. That's what I do for my 16 year old cat Murphy. She is bone thin but has an appetite like a horse. I attribute her thinness to her thyroid. Before I adopted her from the Ct Humane Society, she had her right thyroid nodule removed. She's a little spunky, even at the tender age of 16. I'll give her whatever food/KMR mix is left over from little Molly. She noshes on it throughout the day.
