House fire as dog turns on cooker

A family had to escape their blazing home during the night after their dog managed to knock their cooker on and set their kitchen on fire.

Accidental arsonist Alfie - now dubbed the "Alfonist" by the family - turned on a griddle attachment, which had a deep fat fryer on top.

Paul Gregson, his wife and two sons were alerted by the smoke alarm, but managed to get out safely with Alfie.

The house in Llanfairfechan, Conwy, suffered thousands of pounds of damage.

Usually the story is that the dog saved everyone in the house from the fire. But nooo, Alfie has to be different and he likes to START the fire.

Glad it had a good ending (other than the damage to the home).
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Great, something else for me to worry about. Actually, our on/off knobs are on the back of the stove. Not even Layla can reach them.

Oops, Alfie bad. Don't mean to sound callous, but, holy cow, who would have thought? I'm just glad everyone is safe and healthy. Geez...how's the insurance company going to handle this one? Is it like "my dog ate my homework"? Oh, Alfie, I'm sure your family still loves you.
