My Trevor is at the RB (3/15/93-4/30/08)

I sent the following note to a few of my special PT friends earlier this morning. I didn't want them to have to find out here.

I can't believe I just typed those words. My little orange buddy is with my four poodles now. He grew up with two of them, Ashley and Whitney, so I hope they were right in front to welcome him.

He became acutely ill very suddenly a few days ago most likely as a result of his underlying diabetes. (Not wanting to eat and, when he did eat, throwing it back up). The decision was made to just let him go. He had lived a good life and he was 15 years old and it was time for rest. It reminded me very much of how Ashley's last days were spent (same symptoms, though a different cause).

Andy seemed a little lost without him yesterday and spent even more time in my lap than usual. Little does he know, but it helped me so much to feel him there. We are helping each other. I felt like I had taken away his best friend but I knew it had to be done. Rest in peace my Trevor sweetie. You made cat lovers out of all of us.

Looking at these pictures of you in happier times is bringing the tears again. Goodbye for now Mr. Orange Man, until we meet again. We loved you and will miss you.

Oh Pam, I am so very sorry to read this sad news. Trevor was one of my favourites on PT, he was one of the first orangies here that caught my attention - such a handsome and sweet boy.

Pam, I know how sad you must feel now, but I hope it is a comfort to you that Trevor had a long wonderful and spoiled life with you, Andy and the doggies - and that he didn't suffer for long. Try to remember the good times and know that he is now resting comfortably at the RB.

I love his sweet face in the pictures you posted of him.

    ((((hugs))))

Oh Pam, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure that Andy knew that you were sharing his pain, and you both were able to take comfort form each other. He was a handsome boy. The picture of him peeking around the wall made me smile. {{{Hugs}}} to you for being strong enough and loving enough to do what was best for Trevor.
    RIP sweet Trevor.

    Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
    To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
    Soon, replied the whiskered angel
    But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
    That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

    Eventually they will understand,
    Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Oh Pam, what a shock it was to read that. I'm so sorry that you had to let Trevor go.

Trevor had a great life, but it is just never long enough for us, is it? He looks absolutely adorable in those photos you posted. Another of my favourites was that one where you are wearing him as a hat. What a good boy he was.

Rest in peace Trevor sweetie. You will be sorely missed.

Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

    Oh my

Pam and family. I know you decided what was right for your boy Trevor. He is up there playing with Gabe and Grammy Crakers and Miley-girl and all the other pets that have passed. We are all going to go somewhere, someday.

Rest in Peace Trevor boy. You were loved.

  14. Pam... I saw the cat's name and hoped it wasn't your Trevor! I am so sorry. I remember once a thread you started about your cats...just good cats...never tear things up...never make problems...just good cats..."

    Godspeed to Trevor...a good cat.

For some reason, a poem like this seems to be a good way to help process the grief. I was intending to search for one for Trevor, but Liz has already found the perfect one. I just wish that Pet Talk had music. Trevor's thread deserves music. Pam already knows how hard this news is hitting me. I shall come back to this thread often to see the notes that others have left for my little cyber nephew. My uncle passed away 9 years ago this week. Many of the flowering trees and shrubs were in bloom. This week too they are in bloom here. Flowers for Trevor.
