Foster pups arriving tomorrow!!! Cuteness warning!

Tomorrow afternoon I have 2 foster dogs arriving at my house!

One of them is a 1 year old yellow lab mix (maybe mixed with a shepherd, or husky??) named Vanessa. Vanessa has been sort of a personal project of mine - I saw her picture on the page of the high kill shelter that my rescue works with, and begged for her to be pulled. Now she's coming here tomorrow, and I think she's going to her forever home tomorrow night! Yay!

    This is Vanessa -

The 2nd girl is Abby, an 11 month old purebred black lab. She's so pretty!!! I don't think Abby has a home yet, but I'm sure I'll find her one fast.

    Just thought I'd share!!

Thank you Kay for the awesome siggy!!!

They are so cute! Have fun fostering!

We found out we are no good at fostering, as that's how we ended up with our 3rd dog!

awww! Vanessa looks so fearful. Good luck in your new home girl! I'm sure the lab girl won't have a hard time finding someone to adopt that adorable face!

I'm usually not impressed with Labs or yellowish dogs, but OMG Vanessa is stunning!

I'd say either Shep or Greyhound. Those ears say so much.

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

Here are some more pictures of Abby and Vanessa, who arrived yesterday afternoon - Abby is ALREADY GONE! She went to her forever home today - a family came and met her yesterday and she was perfect for them! Vanessa is already adopted too!!! Someone met her yesterday and they are picking her up Saturday night or Sunday morning - yay!

Vanessa looks WAY more like a husky/shepherd mix than a lab in person and in these new pictures. She is very, very timid, and in those pictures that I originally had of her, her ears are flattened, which she does when she's afraid. She was terrified when she first got here, but it took all of about 3 minutes for my dogs to make her feel at home - she was prancing around the yard in no time! She's slightly food aggressive (if someone tries to steal from her) but just with other dogs, not people in the least. I think it's just because she is so skinny. Poor thing - she was definitely abused at some point, too - every time my fiance moves his hand near her in any way, she hits the floor in submission, cowering. She does it sometimes with me too, but not nearly as much. She loves both of us, and loves to cuddle, but any sudden movements scare her a bit, and she immediately tucks her tail and cowers in front of you like "please don't hurt me, ok?" She's so damn cute. The guy adopting her will be wonderful for her. Also, it's strange - Vanessa has 6 back toes on each foot. She has TWO dew claws on each back foot - it's so strange looking! They don't seem to bother her at all, but her new owner is going to look into having them removed, because they're definitely awkward, and if they were to get stuck on something it could be really bad.

So, here are the pictures from the last few days!

    Pretty Abby

    Abby, Lucy and Vanessa

    Lucy and Molly

Madness in my backyard - another foster mom for my rescue came over with 4 fosters - so, 8 total romping at my house!

OMG, that could be a clue into what her mix is! The only breed on the top of my head is the Beauceron, but i know there are others out there with double back dew...

They're bred like that on purpose due to their working nature. It actually helps them climb and stuff. Due to that being a trait bread on purpose they're more sturdy than most other dew claws of other breeds. (Her being a mix though i don't know. The vet would have to take an x-ray to look at the bone structure. I say if it's solid enough leave well enough alone. If it just looks like that average dew claw though i could see the owner's choice being valid. That would have to be difficult to trim thus leading to other problems.)

What doggies do you have fostering there that are cat friendly?? Since I'm looking to rescue a dog, and not necessarily a pup...

I'm looking for a cat friendly, not too highly energized, dog.

Do you have one that fits that bill???

Crow_noir, that's really interesting, I didn't know that some breeds had that! Her extra toes seem to be rather floppy and don't have much muscle tone, but I think that she can control their movement a LITTLE bit. I took some pictures of them just now, I'll post them in a bit so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

Jenn_librarian, we have an awesome dog in foster care up in Maine, his name is Shrek, and he's a black lab mix. He's a sweet boy, and is totally cool with cats (his foster Mom has some.) He might actually be coming to my house soon for fostering though, because she has 2 HUGE male dogs that don't like him. Here are some pictures of Shrek

Vanessa is doing great here - I'm almost sad to see her go home tonight or tomorrow! She has opened up SO much. She loves laying on the couch with us and craves attention, and will paw at your hand to pet her. And when you pet her, she has "spots" all over her body that make her legs kick when you scratch them - she's too cute! She loves both of our dogs and is great with the cats too.

Thank you Kay for the awesome siggy!!!
