6 Year Old Could Lose Her Ear after Rottweiler Attack

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A horrific situation for two families in Surrey this evening when a family pet bit the ear off a 6 year old girl. It happened in the Newton area of the city when the little girl and her Mom were visiting family friends.

Surrey Mounties say the child went to pet the dog, it lurched and bit her on the head. Staff Segeant Vipond says the owner has not been charged but they have agreed to have the 13 year old animal destroyed.

He says it was a horrendously traumatic experience to happen to anyone. The girl was taken to hospital and it's hoped the ear can be re-attached but her current condition is not known and the family has declined to comment.
