    Gray Hairs & Prayers Answered

Thumper had not been wanting to eat last 24 hrs. I forced feed her some wet food last night & gave appetite simulant stuff & gave some Meow Mix Tarter Control Treats, which she now loves, thus the next thought/conclusion.

Turns out she HATES the Authority Hairball Formula (been eating it for 3 weeks). I went out and found the stinkist food thinking her sense of smell is off because of the tumor or because of her age (8 years) things dont smell like they used to when she was younger. Hoping to get her to eat.

Well................ She LOVES Meow Mix (4 fish flavor)
Scarfed it down like it was no tomorrow.
Been eating it mixed with the Authority although she is smart and pickes out the Meow Mix :lol

Everyone else thought they died and went to heaven. Eating this weight management crap is for the birds they have told me loud and clear.

So for now, I'm going to mix both. Next time we are up at PetSmart, I'll look for the Authority Fish mix and see if that smells "fishy" enough that they would like it. If not the ProPlan Purnia (at Petsmart) has a Samon and Rice.

Hopefully small bags (4 lbs) I can see if they like it.

One of the things specialist said "you'll know when it's time, when she stops eating" She's giving mom and dad gray hairs
Our prayers were answered, she just hated the food and it wasnt anything else more serious.

    Cathy,
Our Reiki gal continues to believe this tumor will shrink.
There are times, hubby and I wonder if it will ever go away.

What a relief that she just was protesting. Let's see her continue to get better now.
    Blessings,

They must be like humans when it comes to food... Say diet food and nobody likes it! I have noticed Boo eats very little of her allergy free food and will eat the regular everytime I let her out of the bedroom. THEY KNOW!!

I so agree that they know LOL
They've all been eating Nutro Weight Management forever, I found the Authority that was just the same but way cheaper.
3 weeks, Thumper decides she hates it.
Everyone else still eats it LOL

My cats have been picky lately too. I switched them to Innova EVO and they all LOVE IT! It is very smelly and so is their poop, but that may also work too. It actually smells good, but strong.
Also Purina Pro plan has a soft food with sardines and tuna, and it is REALLY smelly. ( it comes with whole chopped up sardines, imagine my surprise when I found fish heads in the cans) lol

    Thank you so much Michelle!

It must be disheartening at times, to watch for every little sign...after some dramatic improvements, the progress has maybe slowed down a bit?

I am hoping this is just a plateau before the last stage of healing that will hopefully move forward much more noticeably.

If nothing else...might the Reiki get the tumour to where the vet might actually be able to do something?

    There is always hope.

    AND PT PRAYERS FOR THUMPER!!!!!

    (Those are ALWAYS miraculous! )

    Cathy,

Maybe/Maybe not for slowing down progress. Pesky is good description LOL
We deal/cope one day at a time. It's easier thay way.

Bad thing about tumors, if surgically removed they come back even worse.

Yep, mircles can happen, Tumors have been known to shrink before ones eyes after a session.

That woudl be such a scare! I'm glad she was just being a picky eater!!
My babies are even picky in the different flavors of brands.
We buy California Natural for my girls, and they love the chicken and rice formula. They gobble it up.
But the problem was that they weren't getting all the proteins that they needed for healthy coats with that diet, and my dad wasn't willing to buy cans of wet food.
The shedding drives my dad up the wall, he buys a different flavor of Cali. Natural, which has more protiens, for kitties with longer fur and more delicate skins, "Salmon and Sweet Potatoes"
Both of them took one sniff, and a questioning nibble, and absolutely REFUSED to eat it unless we doused it with their fish-oil suppliments (which means that every time they ate, they were maybe a few bites away from 'overdosing' on fish oil suppliments). They both lost weight (which is really saying something, since they're skinny to begin with), and we took to mixing in wet food and anything else that would make them like the food.

We're back to the Chicken and Rice formula, and now my dad is more willing to buy them wet food. Next time we go shopping my dad's planning on buying an entire tray of California Natural deep-sea-fish flavor wet food... which actually looks and smells really good. Like actual fish!

We now know better than to ever again buy Clover and Echo anythign with Sweet Potatoes in it, teehee!

    ^Boyfriend^.....^Me!^...............^Clover^...... ........^Echo^

Yay Thumper - good girl eating like a good girl.

Just a tip --- don't waste your money on a 4 lb bag. Buy the large one as if you are certain they are going to like it. If they hate it, then return it to Petsmart. They have a no questions asked return policy and will take back anything, even open bags of food.

I'm aware they take back food, but if they dont like it I'm not out $29.95 for a bag, I'm only out $8.95 for 2 weeks until I can get back up to PetSmart since it's 27 miles one way to get there. Also, I never buy big bags until I know they like something, I feel it's very wasteful because you know those bags get thrown away in the trash that are opened. Pitful to waste food.
