Dog saves owner, dies trying to save cat

    http://www.newsnet5.com/family/10104263/detail.html

RHINE, Wis. -- There is an amazing rescue story out of Sheboygann County that might seem hard to believe.

Jesse, a labrador-German shepherd mix, saved its 49-year-old disabled owner from a burning house fire in Rhine, Wis., but died when she went back in to try to rescue the cat.

"And she heard the cat upstairs, and she went back up there to get the cat and didn't come back down," owner Jamie Hanson said.

Hanson said she was going to be released from the hospital Monday night, less than 24 hours after her 13-year-old dog's heroic feat.

    RIP Pup.

I just read that in "General"

Isn't that the saddest story ever? I wonder what kind of candle it was ---I guess it doesn't matter, fire is fire.

But it just seems so very dreadful that this heroic Dog brought her what she needed, then, ran back for that poor cat.

That is truely a Heart breaking story.

What a great dog. So sad she and probably the cat didn't make it out.

RIP, brave soul. Your heroic deed will forever live in the memory of those who read your story. May you romp and play in green fields at the Rainbow Bridge.

I read about that today, how amazing. I'm so sad the dog did not make it. It seems like the dog knew the risks, truly a hero.

Wow, incredible story - what an amazing dog. It's so sad that Jesse died.

No, I don't think the cat lived either, it was hiding.
