The only freckles here are on Scout - the orangie. She just started getting them recently. She has more on her lips.

Soo... its a completely harmless (and cute!) pigmentation -- or freckles -- just like a lot of other red-heads get!

And it even has its' own 'medical' or clinical term -- Lentigo Simplex in Orange Cats

... and more pepper-nose pictures of Hobbes

How cool! Thanks for finding this info. See the 2 non-orangies who have them, have SOME orange in them too! So it wasn't my imagination!

Great pictures everyone. Sunny has some freckles on his lips and nose and my Sky has big freckles on his nose.

Sunny's freckles on his nose a very light so they're hard to see but he has blacks ones on his lips.

Sky when he was quite fluffy. He has two large freckles on his nose.

Not a freckle in sight here. Even orangie Amber has a perfectly pink nose.

    Logan has a single freckle.

His brother Eli, has lots of nose freckles.

They seem to break the only orange or some orange rule. Since their momma is Zam, they must of inheirited the freckle trait from her.

    I think he has this?!

My 4 year old orangie just started to get a black spot on his lower lip. Upon closer examination (he meowed and yawned at breakies) I saw that he had several more of them on his top lip and inside his mouth. They don't seem to bother him at all and his nose is still quite pink. Although, now that I look at him right now, he does have some light brown freckles starting. The other day though the one onhis lip was indeed raised. The rest are not. So this worries me, but due to cash flow, I would like to figure this out as best I can before enlisting the help of our wonderful vet.

Maple has a colourful history as well. My husband and I found him all alone hiding beside a building while we were living in Cozumel, Mexico back in the summer of 2004. He looked to be about 2 weeks old, but was in actual fact closer to 4 weeks according to the American Vet we used down there! I'll try to post a couple of photos of my little "chico". (I'm new to the site, so I'm still figuring it out.)

Amy and Maple...and the rest of our clan(2 more cats and 2 dogs....border collie and border collie x!)
