    Removing rust?

Someone gave us a child's bike for Cameron. Its in GREAT Shape except a few spots of rust on the chrome. We would like to spiff it up and give it to him for Easter. Any ideas on removing rust?

It's easiest just to sand it off, then paint over it. After you sand it, make sure you brush it off, so the spots are clean and no dust before you paint. It won't taken much pressure - a wire brush will do the trick to sand it, no fancy equipment necessary.

Some folks swear by "Coke" (Coca-Cola) poured over and rubbed onto rust spots
to remove the rust and slow down reappearances of the stuff.

Kinda depends on just how big the spots are - little or tiny pin-spots clean up
very well with the Coke treatment - then wash, dry, and WAX the area.

If you sand & paint, you'll have to do the entire piece (fender) - including the
non-rusted areas. Paint won't stick very well unless the chrome surface is
"roughed up" with sandpaper or a wire brush.

    ---OR---
Get some Vinyl cartoon characters to "stick" on top of the rust spots.
