    Met a squirrel today! :)

While I was taking photos in the botanic garden today, I saw this cute little squirrel. It let me take some pics while it was eating nuts and other goodies that has fallen down from the trees.

I'm sorry about the ISO noise in the pics, but it's been shady under the trees, and I had to use ISO 400. But I hope you can still see how cute this little guy was!

Of course we can see him, he's perfectly clear - looks quite similar to the ones we have here. Ugh, it looks like someone took a bite of his ear.

Wow, his tail is bigger than he is! Handsome squirrel you have there! Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

Our squirrels are heftier in build, with grey fur.

Randi, you're right, now that you said it, I see that a part of his ear is missing... A fight, I guess...

Karen, isn't it funny how different squirrels look in other countries? When I was in London, England, I saw many of them in the parks, they were darker and bigger than ours, and showed no fear of humans.

Here is Shirley. You can see she had the same notch in her ear!

Awh, that squirrel looks so much smaller than what i am used to.
We have grey/brown ones, that are very "buff" looking. I adore the photos though! Even though ISO had to be changed from lighting, you can still see that cutie!

Oh this is adorable- in the pics you can see excellently that our squirrels here are smaller than the US (of course ) - they are in between chipmunk and squirrel size.

Sara, Shirley looks so cute! Has she been your pet?

My sister, who visited the United States last year, has also told me that the squirrels there are much bigger, and of a different color.

In 2003 and 2004 (when we were still living in Chicago) I made a number of posts about Shirley. She - and her family - lived in our yard and I could feed her by hand. (As did Barbara when visiting!) Unfortunately, the photos I had posted were on Imagestation...

Sounds cute! And it's great that Barbara had a chance to see her!

Did you lose her pics when ImageStation went down? That would be too sad!

The squirrel sure is cute and a beautiful color too. I used to live on the east coast and I was always used to seeing grey squirrels. Now that I'm living on the west coast there are a lot of black or very dark brown squirrels and there seem to be very few of the grey ones.

Thanks for sharing these great pictures, Kirsten. Around here there are a lot of squirrels running around collecting provisions for the winter.
