is there something seriously wrong?

lately my cat smokey has been acting funny... he would be sleeping then act like he had a bad dream and then he couldnt breathe very well... he would gasp for air... now, i got him inside.... i found him outside layin in the grass not wanting to move... i brought him inside and found that he cant meow very loud like he used to... and he cant walk very fast... is there something seriously wrong with him? is it something which needs to be taken to the vet? please let me know... i dont want to lose another cat...

Don't guess - get him to the vet! Could be anything from minor to him ingesting some poison!

Get him checked, PLEASE! (If money is a problem, work out payments with your vet!)

And then they wonder why they've lost so many cats. Never ask advice for serious medical conditions on a message board.....call the vet! Sheesh.
