Thread: Prayers for my Puddy, please! *Update 2/23*

  1. #76
[QUOTE=slick] As for the kidney transplant, if I were in your shoes I would make the very same decision. It's just to extreme for little Puddy right now.
    [QUOTE]

Yes, she's just in too weakened a condition. I managed to fatten her up to almost 6 lbs. and already she's down to 5 lbs. again. Transplant surgery would just be too much for this little girl.

    Mary

    A quick note before bed

I thought I'd try some canned KD for Puddy, knowing that she refused to eat it every other time I tried. Tonight she lapped it up! She ate approximately 2 tablespoons full! I'm really encouraged by that! I think I'll see if she'll try the KD dry, too. Gotta get some tomorrow. YAY!

YAY! When a cat whose been sick gets their appetite back and/or begins playing with toys, it's the best gift ever! I hope she continues to get stronger and that you can enjoy each other's company for many, many months. Thanks for sharing.

Awww...more PT Prayers that Puddy eats a bit more! Might take a little while, as her poor tummy might have shrunk a bit. Good news!

Yep! When I told him at first how much she loves them, he said "Well, they'll make her thirsty and that will make her drink more water and she needs fluids, so I guess it's ok". It isn't like I give her a whole bag or anything. She gets teeny tiny crumbs, not even a whole chip.

I gave her another couple of T. of KD this morning and as soon as she smelled it, she got up and came to her food dish and ate it all but a tiny bit. This is amazing to me because Puddy has always hated KD; she doesn't like canned food in general. She was restless again last night; I was up w/her til 2:15 AM. She wants to be right on top of my chest, which is also unusual for her. She likes to be left alone when she isn't feeling well. Of course, I like having her w/me but if I have to move at all, she then gets out of bed and starts pacing or goes to her room. If she hears me turn over, she starts pacing again. I wish I could keep her up and active during the day so that she'd sleep better at night. Oh well. This isn't about me, it's about her, and I'm happy that she can rest whenever she can get it.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    Puddy says:

Thank you for all your prayers for me and my Mom. I'm looking a little weary but I'm still standin', so don't count me out!

I slipped out for groceries today and brought some chicken home for an early dinner since I hadn't eaten lunch. When I got home, Puddy was lying on the back of the sofa on the blanket w/the heating pad underneath it, which means she was able to hop up there all by herself. Just a couple of days ago, she was too weak to manage. Then when she smelled the chicken, she came trit -trotting into the kitchen, so I took a chance and gave her a little bite. She ate it and wanted more, so I kept giving her bites until she'd had enough and walked away. Of course, the rest of the fur posse said "HEY! Do we have to get sick to get some chicken around here?!" so I ended up feeding most of my dinner to them. But who cares. My heart needed to see Puddy stronger and able to eat like that. My eyes are tearing up as I type this. The emotion is so bittersweet. I'm happy that Puddy is feeling better, yet sad at the thought of this house being w/out her. Ok, 'nuf o' that. I originally posted just so you could see that Puddy is doing better. Much better. Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement, friends. I love you all.

Aww! She's such a sweet little muffin, like my Mitzi. Yes, nothing is better than hearing them trot around and come galloping for food when they've been down sick for a bit. I just went through that with my little Mitzi. Prayers going out that Puddy continues to eat and improve.

Oh, Puddy, what a great job! You go, girl!

What a lovely lady you are, and what sweet pictures.

God bless you and your mom both.

Oh my, those pics of sweet Puddy have given me LES!!! Just look at that precious baby!!! No, we won't count you out yet. I'll bet you've got some spunk in you yet that will keep you going. So glad to hear that you enjoyed the chicken.

Jen, when I first got her, Puddy was just about the size of the kitten that you're holding in the pic in your signature. That's how tiny she was. She's always been my tough girl and when I see her sick, it just makes me so sad. But she's having a good day, as you said, and that means I'm having a good day, too.

Filou became 12 two weeks ago and he is still a little bit further from where Puddy is now but I see it just like you- as long as they are happy and eat and purr I will do anything for him.
But for sure I will not put him through a transplant- what is a 50% chance for a life of some years that could not be an easy life- looking at the meds they would need to make the transplant work.
Filou doesn't like meds- NOT- AT- ALL!!!
So I try to feed him as well as I can and to enjoy that he is around, even enjoy it when he is naughty which he preferrably is at 3 a.m.. He sends some deep purrings to Puddy.
