I hated to see the cubs go down like that, the fans were so excited when they were ahead, then the goat curse kicks in THREE STRAIGHT LOSSES, I can't believe it......

Should be an awesome game seven in the AL finals.......tom

How heartbreking for the Cubbies and their fans They were SO excited I had to walk out of the room in the 9th. I'd have loved a final with the Cubs burying the Red Sox. But I can't even imagine a Marlins/ Red Sox world series...blech!! No way Pedro's going to lose 2 post season games in a row. Yuck! Ick! Ugh!

I don't know though, Pedro is not pitching as well as he did regular season, I think he does better with the extra days rest. I'm thinking yankees now after really thinking about this. As a true mariner fan, both teams are on my hate list, after all, the red sox swept my m's 4 straight late in the year and that seemed to take the wind right out of our sails.

    Should be a great game!!!!............tom

Hmmmmm, all you Yankee haters are strangely silent!; But I admit it, even I thought we were goners. I almost turned the TV off at the top of the 8th.!! There has to be something to that curse! Even I feel badly for Red Sox fans! BUT I'M GLAD WE WON!!

They are silent today, aren't they Sandra
I was almost asleep on my couch as well, top of the eighth, but I sprang up and stayed wide awake until the 11th--but I had to stay quiet, because my husband and all 4 dogs were asleep!!!!!
My husband didn't want the Yanks to win either, he is sick of them, he thought the first 7 innings were great--he about died when I came to bed and told him they pulled it off!!!!!!

It was a great game though, the Red Sox definitely are a great team--tough to beat that Yankees Mystique!!!!!

it's hard to say anything as we sulk away, tails tucked firmly between our legs....Humble pie isn't exactly tasty this early in the morning...

7 more games (?) to go and Zimmer can hibernate for the winter.....

Sam, can you spell M-E-S-S-I-N-A???? Last night's hero!

Richard, try that humble pie warmed up with a scoop of ice cream; it goes down easier! But not to worry, a possible 7 more games, 63 innings, to indulge that hatred! I heard Zimmy say today that he's packin' it in at the end of the year. He's "sick of being treated like an ---hole!!!!" And he wasn't talking about the Red Sox, he was talking about Yankee management! Hey, I never said I liked the guys upstairs!

You're right about that Yankee mystique, Em! Plus, they've always got the better looking players. And what's up with those Red Sox and their shaved heads and scruffy goat-tees?? Ick! They look like they belong on a chain gang! I know, the solidarity/brotherhood thing. I was so happy for Aaron Brown, hitting the winning home run. The Red Sox commentators and fans were so indignant that they were beaten by such a 2nd string lacky!! Maybe, but what a cutie

    I can - it's M-U-S-S-I-N-A.

Some hero... couldn't win the games he started, but throw him in in the middle and he's great. Can you spell L-O-S-E-R?

By the way, tatsaxx11, it's Aaron Boone, not Brown. How big a fan can you be if you don't even know their last names?! LOL (Kidding...)

    Don't be picking on Mussina
I think he did a fabulous job, but besides for the homerun hitter, my hero last night was Mariano Rivera (don't know if I spelled that one right)--he is an awesome closing pitcher!!!!! And he seems like a genuinely good guy.

I think it is about time for Zimmer to hang it up--remember a few years ago when he got pelted by the ball in the dugout??
As long as Torre stays, I'm happy!!

Oh, and Sandra, about the better looking players--you're right!!!!
Mussina is not too shabby looking, and don't even get me started on Jeter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To Boston's defense, Nomar Garcioparra isn't too bad looking either!!

Dude, you aren't hurting my feelings there! I just root for whoever plays the Yankees - the only team I have allegiance to is the Orioles and telling me they suck is like telling me the sky's blue. I know it.

As for Mussina... he isn't too bad-looking. HOWEVER, once he takes his hat off, he looks like the biggest goof. I always said if I ever slept with him, I'd make him keep his hat on. LOL!

Derek Jeter will forever remind me of exactly what he said of himself when he hosted SNL a couple years ago. He was dressed up as a ditzy girl and "she" and her girlfriends were talking about hot baseball players and when someone mentioned him, he/"she" said, "Eww, Derek Jeter? He looks like The Rock had sex with a muppet." BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And now that's all I see.

Nomar isn't bad looking from the front, but once he turns his head - YIKES!

    Did you call me dude???

I know you're an Oriole's fan, just stating the facts, that the Sox were the losers last night!!

I thought Jeter was funny on SNL--the Rock and a Muppet, lol!!!!

Did you know that Nomar is engaged to Mia Hamm??

I had a feeling this is the way it would turn out. Boston spends MONEY getting a better bullpen and then they don't use it!
What kills me is us true Mariner fans wanted one of two guys, Pudge Rodriguez or Aaron Boone, of course the CHEAP Mariners don't get either one, and look who the two heroes are so far, Pudge for the Marlins and Aaron for the Yankees!!!!!
It absolutely pains me to say it, but since Brett Boone is such a good Mariner, I have to go with his brother Aarons team, so, I can't believe I am saying this, GO YANKEES ......tom
