Aww, hope she heals quickly! Just a thought, some breeds have abnormally low white blood cell counts. Could the reverse be true for huskies? Poor Keva. The worse part is not knowing what caused the infection =/

Keva acts fine...she's eating/drinking, playful, etc....I'm not fine. I made the mistake of reading all the things that a high white blood cell count can mean (cancer, etc.). I hope its just an infection. Nebo threw up this morning too, just bile, he does that sometimes so I'm not sure if that's related or not, he also acts fine.

I've never heard for huskies having abnormally high white blood cell counts as a breed thing, Nebo's had his blood tested a few times and its never been high.

Too much knowledge isn't necessarily a good thing. I know that you are a good doggie mom and wanted to be able to do whatever you could for your pup, but you may just be worrying unnecessarily. Hopefully it is just a puppy thing, or minor infection and she will be cleared up in no time. {{{Gentle hugs}}} to the little cutie, and more to you.

Darn, sorry to hear that she has an infection I hope she gets over it quickly.

Now Amy don't go being like me and worrying your self to death. I'm sure if it was anything bad your vet would have been questioning it more. I'm sure she's going to be just fine. Give her some big hugs and kisses from me

I'm sorry to hear this Amy, but try not to get too worried. There are a VAST number of things that can cause elevated white counts, from scary things (which I seriously doubt) to something as simple as a UTI, and even sometimes high stress level can elevate it. It somewhat depends on how elevated, but if it was something shockingly high I imagine your vet would be doing more testing and worrying about it. Please try not to worry. Look at it as a headache if you can. You can look up headaches and find some seriously scary things that cause them, but more than likely it is nothing like that and most headaches are minor and temporary without devastating cause.

You and Keva will be in my thoughts. I'm glad to hear she is acting well. That's a prime indication that she's doing just fine! Give her and Nebo some hugs and kisses for me

A little update again. Yesterday (sunday) evening she was running in the yard playing with Nebo. I was out with them, I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I think she went to run under the deck and she slammed into either the wooden post of the deck or a rock under the deck. All I know is that she started screaming her little head off and she was holding up one leg, I had to crawl under the deck to get her out.

After she calmed down she seemed ok, I can move the leg around and she doesn't act like it hurts, and there's no swelling. She's a bit of a drama queen so I didn't know how bad she hurt herself, Nebo has ran into things in the yard before and acted like that then been fine later. I thought she had stopped limping that night, but maybe I just couldn't tell, because when I got home from work tonight I noticed she's limping. She can put weight on it ok, but she just limps. She acts normal, playful, eating ok, etc. I'm actually having a hard time keeping her calm she wants to run but I don't want her to hurt herself more.

The vets are closed tonight and I'm not sure if I can get her in there tomorrow either, I have a really busy day scheduled at work. She has an appointment on Wednesday to get spayed. I have a feeling that's not going to happen again, but we'll see. So if I can't get her in tomorrow, I'm going to have her leg/shoulder (I'm not sure which is hurt) x-rayed on wednesday. As well as a blood test again to see if her white blood count is back to normal, and if everything is ok with that and her leg, then to get spayed too. So if you could please keep her in your thoughts and maybe say a prayer that she will be ok, I would appreciate it.

*!##@!!*x^^!* Ouch! Note to self: Gotta remember to duck!

Hope little Miss Kevious is ok. Huskies can be quite the drama queens , but chances are she is fine if she wants to go play again already. We'll say a little prayer & send good vibes, hope all goes well on Wednesday.

I think someone just doesn't want to go in for the Sir Jury *Zippur*!

Being a Drama Queen must be a Husky trait ...
reminds me of Shadow (Husky/Shepherd, RB ) when she broke her back toe ...

She played that Woe IS Me tune for MONTHS!
She'd be trotting along on all 4 happy as a clam till someone would ask her
    "How's you paw, Shadow?"

OMG! Her reaction was almost instant - pull up a paw and *hobble* on 3!
Her problem was she lost track of WHICH ONE was supposed to be the injured one!
She lost her sympathizers when she had to try *limping* on each paw to
see which one got the best reaction.

Hopefully your lil Drama Queen has no more than a bruise or minor sprain.
Ask the Vet if you can give her a plain Aspirin for pain relief and to reduce any swelling.
