What insect do you most dislike/fear?

There are many many reasons for insects. Some of them have functions that are less obvious, but many have very vital functions in nature, even if it is just that they serve as food for many other creatures. I can guarantee you, many bird species alone would go extinct without insects! Many insects pollinate various plants.. I know there are some exotic flowers and plants that have particular features to attract one type of insect in order to pollinate itself. Without flies, there would be carrion and rot all over the place . Many other insects help keep down populations of smaller insects. I'm sure I have only barely touched upon all the things they do.

But anyway, the bottom line is YES! Our world would be in chaos without them!

I'm not all that crazy about insects... but some of them are cool. Spiders creep me out sometimes, but I can live with them.

The one thing I totally HATE though... are Flies.

I cannot STAND flies. When I see them I think: "Terds with wings. great."

I H-A-T-E milipedes/centipedes and earwigs.

It's lucky you weren't on holiday with us in the Dominican Republic then. The very first meal I ate in the hotel restaurant, and what crawls out of my desert - a great big centipede! A couple of days later, a HUGE beatle fell out of the roofing and landed in my hair. Did I jump!
As a kid I was always scared to death of scorpions, spiders, whatever. Later I visited a friend in the south of France, and his dad was an insect expert, and the whole house was full of cages with crab spiders, preying mantis and all sorts of other creepy crawlies. After a week of that I was cured!

Slugs, Yuck. They are the only thing that totally creeps me out. I don't like roaches either, but they don't bother me like slugs do.

Cock-roaches, some spiders and grass hoppers. I am
sure their are more but I can't think of them right now.

Guster Girl here. I'm at home, and, it won't let me log in as guster girl. But, anywhoo......Insects mostly don't bother me as long as they don't get on me. But, flying, buzzing, stinging ones scare me to death. Hornets, bees, wasps, yellowjackets, etc. Crickets and grasshoppers make me jump and scream, but, it's funny. They just jump in the strangest directions. You never know where they're going! Spiders scare me, but, are they insects? They make my skin crawl. Although, on TV and at a safe distance, I think all creepy crawlies are really interesting and beautiful. Bug shows are cool.

It would be a much shorter list to ask which insects I don't dislike/fear. Bleck ... I don't dig bugs at all.

I like butterflies, ladybugs, ants, dragonflies and bees from a distance.

All other bugs ... no thanks, I don't like them at all.

But these horrid things are the absolute worst, IMO. I just freak out if I see one.
