Labradors and labrador mixes. Everywhere. Sadly, including about 75% of the dogs at the shelters and animal controls on any given day. Also sadly, according to our city and county euthanasia statisitics, between 75% and 85% of the dogs euthanized every year due to lack of homes. Labs are victims of their own popularity, with every back yard breeder seeming to have a couple running around. A sad thing.
"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien

Alaskan huskies--I'd say 95% of the dogs in the territory are husky mixes. At the shelter any dog that isn't an alaskan husky is adopted in under a week. A black and white husky mix is likely to be there for months.

One of them almost bit me!

That's really sad. Sounds like a bad place to me. Poor pups.

in our area (central/western Victoria, Australia) Labs are the most popular along with GSD's and mixes/mutts (and "designer" dogs ) and English staffordshire bull terriers

the most common dogs that come into the animal shelter are Rotti's and working dogs (BC's and mixes, Heelers,Kelpies etc) as people think they can get these dogs and leave them in the backyard and all will be fine

Don't have any stats to back me up. So this is just my opinion
from observation, but I'd say Labs. They seem to be the family
dog and hunting dog of choice around here.

One thing I'm sure of is my dogs aren't even close to the
top of the popularity list. In the 40 years I've lived here, I've
only seen 2 other Cairns and have never seen a Collie, not
    even a Rough one.

Shepherds, pits, rotts, labs, boxers, beagles, hounds- all based on what I see at the shelter/listed on the shelter sites.

Same around here, And i live in a very "rich" neighborhood so its very strange how many pitbulls, and rotties are around here. And Dobermens. This neighborhood has very protective dogs. I've tought Jefe and Buck to be Very Aggressive with people that Are Not soposed to be in my house. my neighbor has 2 Cocker spaniels, They jump all over me and bite me. They are tiny doggies. Not so Protective

Thank you for the Awesome Signature, wolfsoul!

Lots of labs and lab mixes here. If you see a dog loose around here, it's almost surely going to be a lab or lab mix. If you see somebody walking a dog, though, it's rarely a lab. I think people around here leave labs out in their yards a lot. Why do they think that's OK???

I hate it when people do that!! ALOT of people here do that!! They are never strays though. People here do not beleive in a LEASH! Theres all of these little punks riding lawn mowers with there dogs just running around the rode with them on no leash!! They are going like 30 miles per hour to!! It's like they don't even care! We lived next to these people that didn't tie there dogs up or anything and there lab got hit by a car and had to be put down.
