If you're listening to this song
You may think the chords are going wrong
But they're not
We just wrote it like that
When you're listening late at night
You may think the band are not quite right
But they are, they just play it like that
It doesn't really matter what chords I play
What words I say or time of day it is
As it's only a Northern song
It doesn't really matter what clothes I wear
Or how I fare or if my hair is brown
When it's only a Northern song
If you think the harmony
Is a little dark and out of key
You're correct, there's nobody there
And I told you there's no one there
~The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix
Grateful Dead
Joni Mitchell
Crosby Still Nash & Young
Moody Blues
Rolling Stones (I remember going to a Ramsey Lewis concert and this British Band opened for them - who are they I asked? Some group called the Rolling Stones -Oh)
America
Little Feat
Beach Boys

Marvin Gaye
Curtis Mayfield
Temptations
Four Tops
Dionne Warwick
Martha and the Vandellas
Supremes
anything Motown
Jefferson Airplane (well, they were at the time)
the Doors
Steely Dan

yep, grew up (teen years, anyway) in the '60s - in San Francisco
spent most of the '70's in New England (if you know these bands, you'll note there's a pretty wide time span there) Actually, I lived around a lot of musicians in the '70s in Massachusetts but theses aren't well known bands - just local at the time, I guess - except for NRBQ
of course, the list goes on (I'm still growing up![]()
) but I'll stop there -

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
I miss you
I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.
Fur as dark as the night.
Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Thank you for the wonderful sig kfamr!
Let's see....*scratches head* Kohala I think I identify with your list most of all. I was in high school in the 60's and there was of course Elvis, Rick Nelson, Dion and the Belmonts, The Supremes, The Platters, etc. the Beatles were just coming on the scene in my junior year in high school....Oops how could I forget - Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Bobby Rydell (all South Philadelphia native sons! ) and of course The Four Seasons ~ Frankie Valli! Now there was a guy who could hit those high notes better than I could!
Also Roy Orbison (RIP)!
I think the only group I think that was missed from the 70's was Pink Floyd. You guys have good memories!![]()
