Everything went perfectly fine. They are healthy, mom is healthy and happy.....they are just hypochondriacs around here. I do not know if they will come here now or not. I am sure they will let me know if they need me again, but I am just going to wait it out. No use being a pest, especially when I am so depressed now.

Oh Jen, I'm so sorry it's not working out like you were hoping. There must be some reason - it's probably that the kittens are adorable and they don't want to part with them themselves, which is kinda mean since everything was worked out for you to take them.

But, like Moosmom says, good things come to those who wait, and you will either be in heaven in two weeks when they do come to you, or now that you've decided you're going to do this, there will be another momma out there needing a good safe place to have her babies and she will be thrilled that you are available.

Try not to be depressed, all things work out for the best, even though you can't see it right away. Chin up, girl!

I don't understand that either. They are safe and cozy in that carrier... just close it up ... cover it from the weather, and take them to JENS!!!! Geez, I took in the momma and newborns from Lacie the morning after they were born ... less than 24 hours!!!!

I'm so sorry Jen! I don't see any reason why they shouldn't want to move them for 2 weeks.
I was soo happy for you too!
Head up though! I'm sure there's another mom to be around the corner who will be thrilled that you will take her in and love her through her birthing time and beyond. I just know it!

I'll be optimistic and echo Moosmom's statement.

Sorry you couldn't get them right away, though.

After I had my good cry. (I was anxious, you know) I realized that this DID happen for a reason, we just don't know what it is yet. In my past, whenever it seemed like all the obsticals were in my way and nothing was turning out MY way, I found out in time that I was needed "down the road" and I just needed to wait for it to come to me. I'll keep you posted.

I've fostered litters who were moved when they were less than a week old (one was less than 24 hours.) I think the vet staff is having kitten lust!

Here's one for the books. Mommy cat just gave birth to #6!!! another orangie !

I still do not know if she will be staying with me after this so-called 2 weeks. I am begining to think these people do not want my help. Well, if that its true, it is too bad for them. There are many organizations in this area that would cherish a place to foster cats/kittens, and now that I have made my mind up to do this, I will!

Yesterday I saw two mamma cats with one-day-old litters. One had 5 babies and the other had 6! They were sooo tiny.

    Jen,

I am on the verge of getting my first two foster Meezers tomorrow!
Sadly, I had to turn down the opportunity of having a pregnant Mama at my house, because of my lack of experience. Don't worry, Mama will be OK.

If you want to help with fostering with some serious folks try: siameserescue.org

They really place these babies in wonderful homes.

I'll let you all know how my experience goes in future threads, if anyone is interested.

    BTW,

Jen, I noticed a foster by the name of Karen Luckenbach, anyone you know?

Good luck and cheer up! A person with a heart as big as yours is in great demand.

I know Jen you are upset about not being able to raise these kittens. It is so difficult when you are sooo looking forward to something and it can't happen.

What was the background on the mother cat? Many years ago the vet we were using was brought a kitten whom was attacked by the mother cat because the kids were playing with the litter. It was a semi-feral barn cat and the scent of the children on the kittens freaked the momma out. She killed all but the one and that kitten was severly mangled. She survived to be a happy cat for many years however. I just thought that this could be a reason for the shelter and the vet being overly cautious?

Aww! I'm sorry Jen....a kitty mommy and her kittens would be very lucky to have you. I'm sorry this one didn't work out.

I'm just seeing this thread now! Sorry that you have gone through such a roller coaster of emotions. As everyone said, there will be another mother needing attention, even if this one doesn't work out!

    Chin up!
