An update...Mark took Malone to the vet this afternoon. I really wanted to go but had some pressing things going on at work. Anyway, the report is that when dogs become adolescent, they get acne!! I had no idea! So it's teenage acne, that got scratched & licked and then staph infected. So we are on antibiotics and antihistamines for 10 days, and then if it's no better to repeat the cycle. She also said that we should watch his feet because it is very common to get acne between the toes. It was a relief to hear that his case looked very "typical".

Acne? That's a new one for me! Wow, look what I am learning.

Hope you get all better quick, Malone! Glad it was nothing too serious!!

Well, that's about as good a report as we could hope for, Malone!! Teenage acne no less! Hope you swelling and itchies start to feel better now, sweetie!

Glad to hear that it's something common--I'm sure you're relieved--who knew you had to worry about acne in dogs?? Reminds me of high school.
I'm glad to hear he will be better soon!!!

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! I think the meds have really kicked in. He's so sleepy!! He hardly wanted to play tonight...just lazed around and slept. I miss my playful pup.

I looked at his belly last night, and things are looking really good. The spots are looking like they are healing, and he hasn't been "schnuffling" (as I call it) them very much.

Malone, is however, catching on that pills don't taste good. Any ideas on how to get them to go down w/o him chewing them first???

Try peanut butter or cheese, that always works for me!

So glad to hear it's noting bad! Actually Roxey had acne, but she was still a pup (2 1/2 mos) when she had it, so I freaked as soon as I seen it & took her to the vet, so they were just tiny & she never had a chance to scratch them!
Give sleepy Malone a big hug & smooch from me

Just thought I'd let y'all know a few minutes ago, I was playing with Malone, and he rolled over onto his back. And all his spots are just about GONE!! I'm so happy! *happy dance* (You can see where they were, but the skin is smooth now)

Poor Malone is a teenager!!! Hope it clears up quickly for you!!

Cincy has chronic acne!!! She started getting it when she was about ayear old, and we also took her to the vet and got some meds. They cleared up, but every now and then she gets more pimples...hopefully she'll out grow them as she gets older
