Your kids would probably love a rabbit. But they are a lot of work, especially at first when you are trying to train them. I hate nothing more than for someone to think rabbits are to be thrown in a hutch in the backyard, only to be visited once or twice a week. My bunny is like any dog or cat. She needs daily attention and affection! When she won "Pet of the Day" on 09/23/04, I told of my many adventures with her. Some were funny at the time, and some were not. But all in all, she is well worth it!
And please don't hear me saying there is anything wrong with a bunny living in a hutch in the backyard. My point was that rabbits can't just be put in a cage and be forgotten. They need some type of social life just like almost any other animals! Here in Texas, my bunny would die of heat exhaustion if I put her in my backyard (which has no trees at this time). So she lives in the comfort of the air conditioning in the house. And she gets the run of the house when I am home. And when I am not, she gets to stay in her three story bunny abode (condo). Spoiled for sure!!
