I just caught this thread and it's breaking my heart. Poor Jake. Please, please don't blame yourself tho. He had a wonderful life, all the way to the end. You couldn't have done more for him than you did. I'm sure that he put up such a fight, so that you wouldn't worry, because he knew you woudln't want to let him go. Who would?? I think he knew that car ride would be his last, and he was thanking you, for everything. For life, for your love and for letting him go. Try to take some comfort that he is no longer in pain or discomfort. That now, he's running around at the RB with all the other beloved pets, killing time until you come for him. Your family now has one heck of a guardian angel.

RIP Jake! You were loved dearly. Run wild, free and happy at the RB. You will be greatly missed!
