I'm not sure - we have a lot of shelters in our area. Daphne was free, but we had to pay a $20 fee since she wasn't spayed, and then we got it back after she was.

Some rescues are really expensive though. I understand where their costs are coming from, but sometimes it's cheaper to buy from a breeder than adopt from a rescue or shelter!
