What a wonderful, heartwarming story. When I was a new born my mom had a German Shepard named Major Von Zelda. Everyone warned my mom NOT to let the dog get near a baby....the dog would certainly hurt that baby....most told her to get rid of Major. She listened to what everyone had to say and went with her gut and kept Major. I have a picture of me when I was 2 days old, in a pink bikini (the only one I've worn in my ENTIRE life) sitting up on the couch with Major surrounding me in a circle. Wherever I was Major was sure to be around somewhere.
One night, as my mom tells me, Major saved my life. My dad was a very abusive man, both physically, verbally and mentally. He came home one night very drunk and attacked my mom and then went into my bedroom to take me away from my mom....Major did not let that happen. He took hold of my dad and would not let go. After that mom found enough strength to leave with me and Major. I truely beleive that if my mom had gotten rid of Major, my life as well as hers would have turned out much differently.
Animals may come in all shapes and sizes but in my heart they are life savers, blessings and most important to me "Fur Kids".
