I've had mice all my life and not once have any been sick from cheese. A tiny piece will not hurt. It shouldn't be given though if the animal has any respiraotry issues going on. Fred gets a tiny piece of cheese on occasion and he's two years old and has no problems besides old age.Originally posted by wolfie
Oh, and don't feed him cheese! It makes them sick.
I would suggest buying some aspen shavings. I currently have Fred in a Sterilite container, a 150 quart with holes drilled in the side and top. It was supposed to be for my hedgies, but it didn't work out that way. It's the same as a tank, except much easier on my back since I have been having problems with my back and hips lately. I also throw in some Orchard grass which Fred uses to make ellaborate nests with. I feed him a mixture of fresh veggies such as dark leafy greens, apples, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul lite cat food, and a mixture of seeds and nuts. He won't touch lab blocks, which is why he is offered the cat food, which he loves. He also gets tons of treats, but I wouldn't recommend this because now Fred is fat. He's on a diet currently and has lost some weight already.![]()
I give my mouse a tiny igloo to sleep in, which he loves. He also has small budgie sized wooden bird toys to chew on, and a small PVC tube to play in, as well as a wire mesh wheel which was recently added so he would lose weight.
I used to have him in a ten gallon but it seemed too small for him. I wouldn't use Pine as a bedding either. Some people think kiln dried pine is safe, but it's been proven wrong recently.
