I know exactly what you are going through. After Nakita was spayed, she needed the cone on for 10 days, and I had to give her eye cream (not drops) 3 times a day. Drops are much easier to put in the eye than cream!

To give the cat some relief, you may want to take the cone off so she can wash herself. I know that Nakita hated not being able to wash herself, so I would sit with her when I had the cone off. Then you just make sure she doesn't touch the area where she had the surgery. Nakita would go through 1 hour cleaning sessions! Since I was home throughout the day, I would take off the cone 2 or 3 times and it seemed to really help her.
