Hi! Welcome to PT! I'm sure you'll fit right in here! Your pets sound like sweeties. Actually, cockatiels don't have to be handfed to be tame. Even the wildest of cockatiels and be tamed and become the sweetest babies ever! You just need to spend time with them and work on taming. Once they get over the fear, they stop biting. I don't know if it would be easy to tame your tiel at this age, but you could always try. Have you tried taming him properly before?

I have two cockatiels, Popcorn and Muffin, and they are the light of my eyes. They weren't handfed, but they were babies when I got them, so it didn't take more than a few days to tame them. Now they are SO sweet and cuddly, and the perfect clowns. You can see them in my signature btw.
