Okay, here's another recent photo of Ziggy (I'm a proud Meow-mie today), and thank you for the suggestion, Carm (colecooncats), about adding my poem I wrote about Ziggy after my mom passed away. I will include that below too (hope it doesn't look too long). Carm, your fur-babies are PURR-recious, and soooo photogenic!

THIS WAY

(with the help of Mom’s hand and Ziggy’s paw)
I feel the warmth of our peaceful fire,
Flickering lower and soon to retire,
Holding my new kitten and sipping warm tea,
Looking back on all this year’s come to be.
It just turned midnight and I can’t help my tear,
Thinking where I was this time last year.
It’s our first Thanksgiving without Mom here,
Yet always in our hearts we hold her Most Dear.
So much has happened, I can’t believe,
We found many new joys, but our hearts still grieve.
I hold our baby kitten and it’s ironic in knowing,
Last year a disease spread; this year a kitten’s growing.
Ziggy won’t allow me to get fully sad,
She’s so lovable, innocent and sometimes bad.
I feel a little guilty that I’m happier today,
Then Mom tugs at my heart and says, “I want it this way.”
I sometimes feel I just want to sob,
Yet I have a new husband, new friends, a better job.
Dad has found a joy amidst his pain,
With his new sweet love we can only gain.
Our family’s growing and our hearts taking charge,
Fueled by years of love through Roger and Marge.
They cared so deeply that even though they’re gone,
We feel their presence carrying us on.
As I pet my new kitten, she kisses my hand,
The same one that bears Mom’s engagement band.
I can’t help but laugh as Ziggy starts to play,
And Mom whispers to my heart, “I want it this way."
