I'm so sorry to hear about dear Socks. He was definitely a very loved kitty, and lived a good life. And I'm sorry you aren't closer to home to be with your mom at a difficult time for both of you. It wouldn't make it any easier, but at least if you could actually hug each other you might feel better in your shared sorrow.
