I can only say the same thing. I should not have waited until his friends needed me to come get the dogs. There was no real reason I couldn't have gone twice. The only thing I can say in my defense is I never thought it would come to this. And the case worker said the same thing. No one at the hospital expected this.I just wish I had gone to visit a few weeks ago as I had first planned. Now its wait, wait wait and that is so very hard to do. from lbaker

Rest in peace, dear sir. You will be missed, but forever part of the Pet Talk family.

Godspeed Phred.
You can now work from above as God's right hand man, you will be missed dearly.

Big time LES going on up here. I have not responded to any of the threads but Phred has always been in my prayers. I will miss the prayers from the Prayer Pups, although I'm sure Cinder and Smoke will keep the tradition going.
This is as tragic as our loss of Jonza. I guess the two of them are writing novels now......
RIP Phred. We are all better off for having known you. I hope you had your seat belt done up while flying that silver cloud express. You are missed and very much loved.![]()
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.
Like Robin, I'm numb with sadness and the words are hard to type.In so many ways he was the soul of Pet Talk; the first one to jump in when someone's beloved furkid was ill, when someone, a complete stranger, was in need of a kind word, some support. Where would we have been without his direct line to the "big guy" upstairs? It was just a couple of months ago he took the lead, rallying to raise funds for Johnny Walker. The countless happy times, the funny times, the cherished memories of Phred and the furkids are just overwhelming me right now. and it's hard to believe he's actually gone; I, we all were hoping for a Christmas mircle. Like Gini, I'm so sad his last days on earth were so difficult for him, but now he's free of pain, and with his beloved Boots and Bowser once more. Remember when we all helped to name Cinder? I can't imagine Pet Talk without him; he and the furkids left indelible pawprints on all of our hearts, and he will be so dearly missed.
As he used to say, God must have been in need of a very special angel to have taken him from us. We love you Phred, and we will never forget you.

Good-bye old friend.
Heaven has gained an absolutely wonderful PT'er. Phred, oh there are just SO MANY wonderful things to say about him... I really like what Sandra posted, she definitely covered it all. He was the sweetest man, and we are sure going to miss him.
We love you, Phred.![]()

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Good thoughts are sent!
I talked a little while ago to the case worker again - They have taken him off the venilator and he is going to hospice. The dogs can be with him there. I will be going tomorrow instead of Friday. I wish I could work tonight out but I am not sure I can. Sheila will be posting under my name the name of the Hospice place - he will be closer to his home. He was suppose to leave at 4:00 so here's another prayer going up that he makes it safely there.
Sheila put the phone up to Phred's ear and he knew I was talking to him. I told him you all were praying for him and I said I thought even Cinder and Smoke were. He couldn't talk but somehow he got out What Heidi's not? His sense of humor obviously is intact! I am praying for a miracle with the knowledge that this is proably not going to happen....
