    Thank you for making me smile on this dreary, rainy morning, elegant Elfert! Near where I live someone has crested ducks but they are all white. I didn't know what they were so my curiosity led me to do some internet research and I found out that the "crest" is actually a skull deformity that at some point breeders embraced and continued.

    I so enjoyed reading your story and seeing all the darling photos! I understand your protective attitude because I used to have a duck (Jerusha) that I hatched in an incubator and when she grew up she would charge with wings flapping when I would enter her "space". How wonderful that you were raised with cats, and I'm sure you have learned many of life's lessons from them. Felines are very wise, so always heed their advice. Happy POTD, dapper Elfert!

    when i went to pet of the day this afternoon i saw your face and you remind me so much of my howard....howard was an indian runner and mallard mix (well that is what i was told)....i had him for 7 years....through winter and all.....you are one beautiful duck and i would like to have another one.....i wish you a happy potd
