Guess now I know why I don't know what they are. Sounds like it could be a last meal , leaves me out of the tasting contest I guess.

Oh my goodness!! Funnel cakes are one of the WORST things for you, and one of the BEST tasting. Every culture has a version. They're fried dough - strands of fried dough made into a wonderful concoction!
