Can you stare at your dogs?

Yep Sam usually lays down after a while or tries to start a game. My friends dog hates it when you stare into his eyes. He takes it as a challenge and gets rough and violent.

I could stare at mine all day and they would only lap it up. I often stare at them for long periods while just thinking, they either stare back , go to sleep or come and sniff to see if I'm okay, then I get a lick and they lay by my feet.
