I think some decaf with Baileys would go nice right now. It's cold, rainy and nasty here.
Scary movies, huh? I think the British ones are the best. 28 Days Later scared the cr@p out of me, because it's actually a plausible premise. Especially, since a few weeks later, (back in 2003) I found and saved the following:
Researchers Make Vaccine-Evading Mousepox Virus, Igniting Scientific Debate
Associated Press (10/31/03) Elias, Paul
A group of Saint Louis University researchers, led by Mark Buller and funded by a federal grant, has created a mousepox virus that can avoid the vaccines currently designed to stop the disease. The work reopens the debate over whether such research is beneficial or aids those who would use such viruses for nefarious purposes, such as terrorists. However, the researchers also created a two-drug regimen that kills the virus, which they say was their ultimate goal; to figure out how to defeat a superbug, they say, they must first create that pathogen. Scientists are also divided about whether the information should be published in a peer-reviewed journal, which would give terrorists and rogue states the opportunity to view the data with an eye toward creating the superbug themselves.
